I'm just finally understanding camber/caster etc after seeing a printout explaning it like the first grade

My truck likes to wander all over the place a little more than it should and when turning the steering doesn't like to come back on its own. Sometimes on the freeway I feel like I'm going to get pulled over and accused of DUI becuase it likes to wander that much.

Seems like the caster is off and needs to be around +3 since that can cause alot of tracking issues. I don't have anything to go off since the alignment guy didn't give me a handout after i got it re-aligned but what do you guys have your caster set at? Is the steering supposed to come back straight? I think if i turned at full lock and let go it would just drive in donuts all day.

The wander has annoyed me to the point where I hate driving on the freeways, around 65 its all over the place, its a constant battle to keep it in the lane. But once I go 10-20 miles faster its smooth again
    Thanks!

Im 1st gen so cant give you numbers but you sound correct. Not enough castor will cause the wheels to not want to return to center. From what I understand an off road truck wants as much castor as possible to get straight line stability

Wow, anyone ever talk to Jerry at burg? Seemed like he didn't even wanna talk on the phone unless he was getting paid for it. Scott on the otherhand is very helpful and told me to come down there to check it out sometime and gave me the number to their alignment guys.

He also said that overtightening uniballs could be a problem. Is there a certain torque spec for them? Forgot to ask him on the phone.

Actually to much caster will cause the wheels to NOT want to return to center. However the more caster you have the more solid the stance will be and the less wandering your truck will have at higher speeds. High end spots cars are known to have caster set above 4.5* for that reason alone. So pick your poison. Do you want your truck to be able to return to center better or less wandering at high speeds. My truck is mid-travel but I personally have my caster set to 4.3 on one side and 4.5 on the other.

hey guise, with camburgs UCA, is it feasible to bump off the uniball with a strikepad? i know it has no bolt on the uniball like on TC kit for example, that's why I'm asking.

well not sure what spindle you have but you dont want to bump off the upper with out a race spindle.

as for as the bolt problem you could just put a misalignment on the top and a normal bolt with a strike pad
