In case you haven't noticed, I sort of have an affliction toward lighting...

What sucks is, I'm doing the retrofit so now my headlights will outshine the PIAA's so next I'm going to need a set of Lightforces :D

I think my carrier bearing is close to going out though so some of the mods might have to get put off so I can get through the repairs. John had nothing but great things to say about u-joints so I'm not excited to tear them apart...

Alex, I ran those tires at 32-34 psi and got nice even wear. I would think running 40 would be a bit high and you could wear out the center too quick. Not to mention how smooth it rides at that pressure. Check inside your drivers door for the factory recommendation, I'd stay pretty close to that.

ujoints aren't that bad mike . just time consuming. rent the ball joint press from autozone . and dont lose the needle bearing in the caps . i dropped one and had to find the needle on the ground sucked . That carrier bearing need to be pressed on . just in case you didnt know . let me know when your going to dig into and if im around ill give you hand .

It's really not that exciting here...

I dropped mine to about 40psi also. Wanted to see if it made a big difference in the ride.

After you asked me about inflating my tires to 44psi, I researched into running them at 44 psi vs the manufacture's recommendation. I guess the vehicle maker's recommendation is the best balance of ride comfort vs MPGs you can get from the tire for that vehicle. Most tire manufactures put 44 max psi on the tire, so you won't over inflated them, even if they can handle twice that before bursting. So running them at max psi should only degrade ride comfort, not performance or life of the tire. I've had mine around 42psi most of the time, and my tires are worn evenly.

I've also looked at what other people are running on here, seen quite a few people running 40psi front, 38psi rear (no payload).

I've heard the same advice about those dreaded needle bearings. I flipped the carrier bearing and it seemed to help out a lot for the time being but I don't know how much time I bought. I wasn't aware the carrier needed to be pressed on so that's good to know, I knew I was going to need a press for the u-joints though. I'll let you know when the fun is going to happen! Good news is, there won't be any nasty rubber burning in this process :D

The tire dude said it should be up that high (bullshit). I drove them around and they do feel pretty good at 40. I might try 35 in a few days to see what feels better.

Thanks everyone. I'm finding it harder to get into my truck now.... That 1" difference is messing with the method I used to get into the damn thing.

I think the only rubbing I have is on my front mud flaps. Might attack them with a 10mm socket wrench today

Guys, I have a set of interior LED's someone can have if they want them. I got them in a trade and I don't really want/need them. One is a 2 LED kit for the dome light which is white, the other 2 for the map lights are red. They look cool, just not really my style. If anyone wants them, you can have them, just come get them or I can meet you on my way to/from work or on the weekend when I'm out running around.

You can do it that way too . But ball joint press is easier. IMO .
