Commuter tires to save the swampers, free rims and 500 for a set of tires with less than 5k on them. I couldn't pass them up.

Wait... the rim rings are for the commuter tires?? and 285s??

Gas milage is gonna suck :p ehh... i guess it's not that much extra weight....

Those swampers are like 80lbs a piece though! So those 285's might might save him 60-80 lbs total plus they probably arent much wider than his swampers.

Yeah..... Tires would def be lighter. But steel rims with 1/4" thick rim stiffeners is quite a bit heavier than the alloys... so I don't think the 285s will be terribly lighter. Also, I think the gas mileage will suffer from the new final drive ratio.. especially on the highway.

however I do think it'll save money since it'll save the swampers...

The tires measure 34x11 so I think they will look pretty decent on the truck and work to drive 60+ miles a day to work in the off season. Looking at the FJ wheels up close they are very thin and look easy to bend. I'll still wheel this set-up and beat around the desert with them too. I liked the look of the rim stiffeners in these pictures, they really seem to finish the wheel out. http://www.thetoyoutfitters.net/Rim_Stiffeners.html I do think this setup will be little lighter than the swampers.

I've just gotta say, your swampers look ridiculously good -- the whole damn truck in fact.

Thanks, the swampers are my favorites for the truck.

I figured everyone was thinking 33's, Its an odd size 285/75r17 but I like them and now I'll have a set of 17" wheels if I need them for something else :spy::spy::spy::spy:

The truck did well with 245's then 235's then 255's then 315's then 36's and now a set of 34's to make the cycle complete of how many different tires can a Tacoma have.

    It was a good day...

Probably a little to far for a one day trip but if we did an overnight trip you might have to head this way.

It was a killer day to do Boulder, perfect weather and caught a lot of good colors.

No worries, you'll just have to make the next one.

    Few more pics
