So after days of searching for answers and disasembling my power steering pump i am at a loss for what to do next. My power steering pump has been whining really loud for the past few weeks and i cant figure out how to make it stop.
This is what i have done so far.
    -Replaced the pump
-cleaned the filter in the reservoir(was full of gunk)
-flushed the whole system several times
    -checked the hoses
-tried various fluids (some cheep napa atf, lucas conditioner/power steering fluid, mobile 1 atf)
-taken belts off to isolate the noise
    -bled the system numerous times
The sound hasnt done anything but maybe gotten worse. the steering works better since i have replaced the pump and the sound doesnt change when i turn the wheels or put a load on the system. It does get louder however when i rev the engine(no difference if i am in gear or not). I noticed that there is a lot of vibration at the reservoir but not the pump and mostly around the return line(it was bent which i thought might have been causing the fluid to not flow correctly but bending it back didnt do anything). At this point the fluid is staying clean and free of air bubbles and the power steering works fine, i did notice that when the reservoir was empty or the return line disconnected the sound went away.

I am open to any ideas however i dont think it is the rack. so if anyone has thoughts of want more info please reply i am now desperate Thanks.

Sounds like the PS idler pulley, not the pump.
    Cheap and easy to replace.

OOPS, just noticed that you have a V6. You have a serpentine belt, right?
A bit different from the 4-cyl motors.
It still could be one of the idler pulleys or tensioner.
