Speaker Install

Greetings Everyone!
I recently purchased a 2007 Access Cab Tacoma 4x4 at the local Toyota dealership. It was the last 2007 on the lot and was able to negotiate the sticker price of $27K to $21K out the door (non TRD). Over the past few weeks I have completed the following: 1.) Toyota Trailer hitch + Wires, 2.)Suspension TRB, Extra D Rings, Rear Differential Breather tube, and last night completed the 4 X new speaker installation using the ********* kit.

I wanted to post my experience with the TacoTues kit #: TTACCESS6x9. I received my ********* Kit promptly and without issue. The plastic pieces installed reasonable well. All that was needed was a drill bit to drill out the wire feed through the side as explained by Maveric491:

However needed to oversize the holes that bolt the speaker mount to the door as the holes did not line up perfectly although very close.

The wire kit sent with the kit did not match the speaker interface so they were not used. I simply cut the wires and crimped them together using a sodering iron. The bolt included with the kit worked with small modifications using a drill and drill bit (rear panel bolt holes need to be oversized). As mentioned in other posts hardware from the local hardware store will yield better results. Long story short, If I were to do it again I would order the mounts only, not the entire kit which would save money.

For those of you who have not looked behind your door panels... The stock speakers are extremly light weight as the magnets used are very small thus the distortion at mid volume levels. I highly encourage those of you thinking of replacing your factory speakers to do it. You will be glad you did!

I will be installing the 3" REVTEK lift and 285/70/17 Brigestone Duelers next month and will post pictures when it's completed.

Couldn't agree more on just buying the overpriced mounts only. One of the front 6x9 mounts wasn't even drilled for the bolt pattern and two of the speaker harnesses were the wrong ones. Also used only the washers and 8 small screws for the rear speakers from their $20 mounting kits, All the mounting bolts with fine and corse theads and another pair of speaker harnesses had to be bought elsewhere for $14 I might add. I figure I'm down $35 with what I've paid Taco Tunes and then had to buy the right stuff again.

Top it off no phone # and no one is returning e-mails. I'm not on their referal list as you can tell!!!!!!!!!
