Nope, I'd been going around town getting some quotes on a Viper install. Cop said they have all sorts of fancy shims, keys, and programmers now to steal cars. If they can get access to the OBD port, they can program a new key in under 5 minutes and drive right off.

The rims are something on your truck that makes yours different than all because of the powder coat. I'd be watching those and your lights being sold somewhere but defiantly the rims.

Yeah, I told the cops that when they were asking about unique features. I'm gonna keep my eye out on Craigslist too for awhile and see if they turn up. Not too many people have these rims in this color.

Would you care to share the last couple digits of the plates so we can get a positive ID if we see it? Have you contacted pinal1223 yet?

I haven't, I did file a police report so I'm not sure if anything else can be done. I'll shoot him a PM or something though if you think it'd be a good idea.

Plates are ANY0170, they're probably up in a bunch of my pics and stuff anyway, I'm not too worried about it.

Does your truck have the immobilizer thing in key? I thought it was impossible to hot wire these trucks because of that magnetic chip thing?

Yep, came with immobilizer. The cop that wrote the report said they have gadgets to override that now, and part of the Viper alarm process is installing a keyless override... so it is possible. I guess somewhat less plausible is they flat-bedded it too, I know that's been on the rise because people don't look twice at a tow truck towing a car.

If he's able to get his hands dirty on the case, i'm sure he'd be more motivated to find it than anyone else on the case. I hope it all works out for you. I'll keep a pic of your truck on my dash and keep my eyes peeled. Best of luck.

It's hard to explain the exact situation over the internet but I just have a gut feeling it was targeted for a chop shop or something. It was just too... specific and clean. No broken glass, no loud noise (I park less than 10 yards away from my bedroom window), and my unit is all the way in the back of the complex, so they had to go past 100 other cars to get back here. Really strange. I just moved to this neighborhood two months ago.

Thinking when I get it back/get something else, I'll be putting a unique exhaust and a Viper alarm on it ASAP. Want it to make lots of noise if it's gonna get jacked. I'm a pretty light sleeper, like I said earlier in the thread, I heard people messing around outside at 2:30 AM... I was just too tired to investigate.

Yup, I'm gonna keep my eye out on Craigslist for the rims/lights and the misc stuff that was in the truck.

I'm pretty conflicted. On one hand, if I get it back, it's been violated. On the other hand, I bought it brand new and peeled the all the plastic film off myself. I don't know if I can afford to throw down the money right now to upgrade to a 2012, so I'd essentially be buying somebody else's used truck. Feels bad either way :pout:

I feel like it would be for a chop shop to sadly to say. But it can be used for drug runs. My teacher got his GMC Sierra 2500 jacked from OUR SCHOOL PARKING LOT! It was stripped down everything from the inside to fit as many mexicans as possible and haul ass across the desert with it. It was found like 2 years later and insurance asked if he still wanted the truck. He lol'd

I feel confident they will find your truck. Shit they found my uncles Camry when he got jacked at a light. Some stupid bitch was laying in an intersection faking death and he went to go help her, bitch got up pushed him and drove off. :burnrubber:
