I was just curious if after you make it so that fog lights can be on any time if they still turn off automatically or not when you turn off the truck. I would hate to accidentally forget to turn them off and come back to my truck to find that my battery was dead.

yes, they turn off with the key. Or at least the way I did it (and documented in the cheap/free mod thread).

I was thinking about putting a fuse between the green wire and the relay. Has anyone done this before...if not, does it sound like a good idea?

Why? The only thing the green wire does is activate the relay. It's not directly connected to the fog lights. Just the coil to flip the relay to send power to the fogs.

If I'm thinking about the right green wire.

If I'm understanding correctly the pin that's bent out normally only receives power when the low beams are on, and the switch in the dash probably closes the ground to activate the coil. Switch in, ground closed, lights on as long a low beams are on. Switch to highs or parking lights only, and that pin loses power and the fogs shut off. Very small amount of current used to make the relay work.

Sounds like you know exactly what you are talking about. In other words, putting a fuse in line would be useless, or like tits on a bull. lol

 Yeah, I mean you're not pulling 20-30amps through that wire to run the fogs. That's what the relay is for so you should be fine. I've had mine like that for over a year now without problems.

The people that use a fuse probably do the add-a-circuit fuse to tap power instead of the green wire. Those are probably the same people that notice the fogs turning on for a few minutes about 4 hours after the engine is shut off due to some emissions related circuit powering back on.

Thanks for the info... I will be sure to do it your way since you have not had any problems.

Your welcome! I'm a big fan of cheap n easy! So one wire, quick splice, and spade connector that I have an abundance of was better than running to Autozone for random parts.
