It depends, in my case I had no where to dump the exhaust where is wouldn't get smashed. also its not higher so less chance of water coming in. and when i redo it, im going to use a boat manifold, so when im in deep water, and by chance the motor shuts off, no water will come in.

I'd never do it my truck. I don't like the look of it and I'd worry about the paint getting that hot. I never do things for no net gain. I don't see any purpose other than looks. BUT if you like the look do it. It's your truck and your dime.

You would think,,, and as of right now, mine rubs against the bed. as of now still not fixed the shifted mount... if anything its cooler there, my exhaust is never super hot right there.. now under the bed, in that corner it will melt snow....

BUT if you Wheel the Truck like me, your not worried about the PAINT!

If the tip were back farther on the bed, I think it would look much better. For the guys who have done this, why not just rhino line the lower half of the cab & bed?

Can some one please post a pic of how they routed the exhaust under their truck when running their exhaust out through the front of the rear fender?

did you run the exhaust in between the frame rail and the bed? or did you run it under the frame?

Over the Frame, and you cant go any further back then what I did as there is a body mount there... But I did use that to weld the hanger for the exhaust.

Basically all you need is a small piece of pipe and 2-90º Elbows.

And I cant find the pic I was talking about on my photobucket. Ill go take one.

More pics would be awesome! I haven't been able to find much in the way of exit flanges, and where I am running the exhaust through fiberglass I would def want a wee bit more protection.

You may have to get a piece of diamondplate or something and a hole saw. Most hardware shops sell small pieces of plate steel/aluminum.

This looks like a pretty good idea for protecting the exhaust. Never understood why a lot of skidplates don't cover it. An exhaust leak can stop you dead too.

May be a better idea to leave it in front of the tire so rock sliders can protect it. If it were behind it, it would block a full plate bumper from going in as well.
