    True

I like the idea of a DOM skeleton around me. 5 point harness wouldn't go amiss either.

Fuck, I'm already daydreaming shit. This is not a good sign.

the beast was a blast; but I have learned a lot more now that I'd like to transfer to another truck (not the runner). I hope to have a truck bought and built by next memorial day, gotta keep tradition. The runner however will be at Uwharrie in October..... hopefully.

I hear you on that. Looking to apply a lot of what I've learned doing Blue to the next project. Hoping to have a place I can stick it up on jackstands by then as well. We'll see. It won't be immediately after I pay off the Taco, because I want to roll that car payment into my student loan since I'm already used to living without that money and just knock it out ASAP. Once debt free, then it's time to find something I won't mind pounding in the sheetmetal on.

sounds like you've got a good idea, NC4x4 is the best place to find older trucks. I would suggest an early 90's IFS truck as a good canvas.

Noted, and yeah, I was thinking late 80s/early 90s.

the benefit of an IFS truck is that it already has the IFS steering box, has the wider rear axle, EFI, xtra cab's are easy to come by, and most of the time they have AC. I just prefer the body style of the early 90's but 86-95 are about the same besides interior and exterior, suspension and drive terrain are the same.

I kick myself everyday for selling my 92 xtra cab

Got under it today and pulled the upper of the two overload leafs in the OME Dakar pack out. Dropped the ride height about .5" purely from decreasing the height of the leaf pack.

Looks about right now. After the shackle flip, the truck was 26.5" hub to fender in the rear. That's about 5.5" of lift from stock. Now it rides about 26" even, and may settle a little more once I get back to wheeling it.

The front is at about 3.75" of lift. Looking for about a 1" rake, so not quite there yet, but close! The ride quality is also better in my opinion...rear end soaks up big hits super well now with the new shocks and these tinkered OME leafs. I think the second overload leaf makes them too stiff unless you consistently haul 500+ lbs in the bed.

Got my 1.25in wheel spacers on today. Rear axle fits like a glove....1/2" clearance off the shock bodies at full stuff. Silly bonus: A little extra wheel travel!

On the front, I need to cut and smooth a little more of my cab mount chop and pound the fenderwell in a bit more. Whoever designed the cab mounts and fenderwells on these trucks at Toyota should be shot.

The mounts on the FJ stick out another 1"-2" further than the Tacoma ones.
