    Tried on 2012 last night,

It has extra (Heavier' duty) wires comming from a plug located near the hood popper ... It already has a jumper and the harness has "4" pigtails not "3" like the 'replacement' part...

So how would eliminating heavy gauage wire ADD extra lights ?

Would i just replace the relay ?(which is also different size and location)... Was late and dark so i didnt try...

Are you positive this worked in 2012, ? :notsure: ????

    I know I saw your pics, but ??? Cristo123 ? Any pointers ?

I'm not really clear on what you are saying or seeing? I have a 2012 regular cab with automatic and the DYI write-up was exact for my model. Did you order the correct part no?

Ill take a pic tonight, but my 2012 is auto with factory fogs v6 prerunner. There is already a jumper on the fusebox and a relay on the sidE but they are diiferent than the pics or ordered parts. My ordered parts look just like the pics on writeup, got them from trdparts4u. The pigtail ON thE truck already has 4 plugs. The ordered jumper only has 3.

Edit just thought of something, towing package. Maybe its different for trailer lights or something.... ?

The jumper is different no doubt. Now I need to do more research (Or hopefully someone knows) about the relay....

I think the Towing Package is Different ....
Confirmed?: 2012 + Towing IS different, jumper is NOT the same.
Unknown: Is it the 2012 model or JUST the towing package that makes it different?
Unknown: Will relay work with this setup (untested)... [EDIT, NO]

I found this (attached JPG of PAGE 5 of the .pdf)

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=tacoma%202012%20flasher%20relay%20part%20number&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&ved=0CEUQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.trdsparks.com%2Finstall%2FPT725-35120inst.pdf&ei=6UBmUImTEYX49gTysoDoDA&usg=AFQjCNG1oE4ekODgJF92UcR0U0hpw_Gh2w

I was trying to see if Towing pack was differernt and I found this PDF on how to install towing package harness on 2012 (Have no idea how I found it, Google is cool I guess...)

Listed on page 5, at #1 and #11 are my parts, stock OEM unmodified, WITHOUT DRLS. <--I was not yelling, just trying to highlight, haha... (I have 2012 Prerunner v6 Auto, factory fogs, towing package, No DRLS.)

    * Note the bracket on #1 relay, this is bolted to the side of my fusebox.

    * #11 jumper has a 4th pigtail that goes towards the bottom of the dash, near the hood popper.

So, I have yet to see if the relay plug is the same, but the jumper is different, as well as relay size and mounting. I tried searching some auto parts places for relays to compare but no luck... [EDIT: NO, it is not the same... It will not fit, it is a differnt plug style]

Got home late again, maybe I can try Sunday...

    'Later

    -------------------------------------------------
P.S., This is also in PDF with a giant RED X :
" (e) Never use a voltmeter to trouble shoot any of the harnesses or connectors to the SRS. Accidentally probing the connectors to the SRS can lead to deployment of the airbag. "

Finally did this. Took 2 hours overall, but half of that was a rain delay. Hardest part was getting the 2fuses out that needed to be replaced -easily 30 min of pulling and swearing. Then 5min to put it all back together. Thanks for the write up!!!:):)

FOR Sale: Jumper and relay, will not work on 2012.

(Cristo123 I know you got yours working but there is something different or left out here .... Maybe chime in as to what makes yours different)...

    ...Hear me out:

    Everyone,
I attatched pics of my fusebox and relay. (See the bolt-on flasher and different style / different pinout plug on jumper pigtail.)

Note: A jumper/pigtail already exists. This is a NON-DRL truck.

The pinout on the jumper for the flasher is different, will not work.

Refer to the previously posted PDF. "PAGE 9" shows and explains removing the bolt-on flasher assembly and re-installing replacement to add towing package parts to 2012 drl model.

Why the above PDF reference ? Because I have a "non-drl model w/ towing pack". The PDF is to "add towing to DRL models". (Complete reverse). The point is, my parts look exactly the same.

Basically, no-matter DRL yes or no, or towing yes or no, the parts are different from this thread...

    Wow. I give up.
2012 is different. I dont know what is special about your truck Cristo123, or what is missing, but....

That's too bad and I'm not sure why it's not working for you, but maybe because you have the towing package? I have a 2012 regular cab, 4 cylinder and the DYI step by step was exact. The part no. is different for 2012's from the original post.

    Hey Christo123,
Do remember (or still have the paperwork from your order) with the part number for the flasher relay module? If so, could you post it here for 2012 owners?

    Thanks dude!

EDIT: I just caught that : " The part no. is different for 2012's from the original post. " I thought it said "no different" at first ....

Whiplash, look up under the dash and see if you can see a bolt-on relay on the side of the 2012, and tell us what factory add ons it has (factory fogs, alarm, towing, whatever) ...

I have the 2008 with the complete towing package and when I did the mod mine was the same as the OP's write up and went without a flaw.

Here is what I bought and installed

    Flasher Assy, turn: 81980-04030

    Wire Relay Jumper: 82241-04030

Bought it from this site: (also bought and installed the intermittent wiper arm from them)

I'm still trying to figure out "what" is making it different man,,,

What I am thinking is that, although it worked perfect for you, that it might be the "wrong part" and you never would know because there wasn't a jumper already there to compare it to,,, and it just happens to work ....

dsc522758 / Daniel, good info, so now we know that:

We know, 2008 w/ towing uses same parts in this thread.
And we know, based on PDF, that 2012 with or without towing uses (again, based on the PDF and my truck) DIFFERENT parts ...

So towing isnt it then ?

    What in the F?

Maybe, possibly, (Because it's happened to me before) Cristo123, you may have a first production run 2012 that was still using 11's parts ???
Or the V6 has a differnt assembly ? Or it was just bare-bones with not features ? It's something man ...

Mine is different than your ebay pic, it bolts on, has 4 pigtails on jumper (not 3), relay is brown/tan not black.

    :)beating-head-on-brick-wall...)

I don't think it's a first production issue. Looking at the picture to the link I sent, does it look like it would work?

My Tacoma is bare bones, the only thing not standard is the automatic transmission, but when you pay $17k out the door I guess that's what you get. :)

I emailed two dealers with parts cross reference questions. Hope to hear back soon.

By the way, does DRL also do dim taillights, or no ? (I know parking lights do duh...)

'Cause if its just the front, hell I'll build a relay ...

    DRL is just the front.

Doing tails would turn them into "parking lights" which are illegal to run without headlights.

Don't ask me why, I think it's a stupid law.

LOL, good info man ... ;)

Ok, so I "thought" I was BRILLIANT and sketched up a wiring diagram while I was "sitting" ... ... (Pic below)

..and then I got a an email from the "parent company" of "trd parts-4-u" about the stock oem parts for the 2012,,,

    Quote:

    82241-04060 relay wire
    81980-04050 flasher assembly

You may order these by the part numbers above through our repair/replacement parts website, www.toyotapartsales.com

    End Qoute:

So, I am busy, I am broke. Anyone want to try the above parts for the 2012 ?

Ohh yeah, and my diagram does this: (NOT TESTED)
    DRLs work when:
    -Truck ON. Parking brake Off.
--The DRLs become ON. When turn signal or flasher are used, it will turn DRLs off-and-on to simulate turn signal flasher ...
---IF the truck is off, or, parking brake is on, all new eletrical is bypassed and turn/flashers work 100% as stock...
***In my head, and not on this paper, i did remove the ebrake ground from relays and moved it to acc relay (not pictured)... [So disregaurd the text "ebrake switch" notes on picture, it needs to be grounded 100%, the ebrake switching can be done on acc side (again, not pictured, OR TESTED...)]

    Yeahh ...

If I was to turn my driving lights on ( turn the light switch one click forward) so both the drl and the lights on the outside of the headlight stay on?
