My stupid phone!! Anyways like I was saying... Go look at my truck and tell me my xds are to flashy, your crazy. And my truck sees dirt, mud, clay, rocks whatever u want every single Friday and Saturday night. No one is scared to use their trucks in crossville, I've seen people get duramaxs lifted and it's on the Mtn the very same night, I don't see how 18s one size bigger than stock on 2nd gens are to flashy....

oh a pretty little street queen..... lmfao
jk man 18s are nice man. the only reason i see people saying 18s are to flashy is that they will get banged up offroad. Also you cant air down like you could with a smaller rim

I understand that but, you can air down with an 18 if have a 33 or bigger. If you star stock size tires then ya I understand stayin 17 or smaller, I myself wouldn't go bigger than 18, not on a taco atleast, tundr ya id go 20 but with a lift, my truck does fine with 18s off road not beat up yet, but if I'm
Gonna do hardcore off roading it won't be in my taco, it would be in my hard body- hilux- pickup whatever you call them, I prefer yoter haha. But that's my hardcore off road truck. I had a 95 still wish I had it:/ it was a monster, 22re 5speed lockouts lifted 33s wasn't a mud hole or rock that could stop it, and not a single jeep that could keep up ;) I think Toyota should bring back the 22re :):):)

Who said anything about being flashy!? And if we r just talking pure rim size, I have a buddy that has a jeep on 24” rims and 54” tires. YES u can do it. YES u can go offroad with big rims. YES tire tread is the most important thing offroad. U can do everything with a big wheel that u can with a small wheel . . . . . . . . . BUT u can do everything better with a small wheel then a big wheel. If u took the exact same situation with the same truck and put it on 20s and 33 then on 16s and 33s, ur an idiot if u think the 20s r better for offroading. This isnt an opinion, its a fact

Well ya 20s and 33s of course the 16s will do better 33s aren't big enough for 20s really. 35s barely are. And who the hell puts 24s on jeep?? Jeeps are gay enough stock. Sorry I'm a jeep racist lol. But yea I know what ya mean by the tire size and stuff completely. It's all about equaling everything out. Only thing I hate about tacos even with a 3in leveling kit 33s rub :\

Alright ladies, calm down. A couple facts have been made here.

    1) 20's are not good for offroad purposes. Do huge trucks with 20s and 40 inch tires drive in the mud? Sure. But so can my stock truck on 15s and 31s. Doesn't make them good for rock crawling and technical offroading.

    2) the smaller the wheel vs tire, the more you can air down and the more grip you can get while also minimizing the chance for damaging your wheel. Yeah, 18s will work offroad, if you aren't too serious about getting into hairy situations.

    3) low profile tires on trucks are ghey. Unless its an x-runner. (Ok, that's an opinion. But still...) the only reason I will step up to either a 16 or 17 is if I find the wheel that I truly want but isn't offered in 15, and because I will probably do the tundra brake swap at some point.

Ok hritz, I went and actually looked at your truck after making my post. Do I think the 18s look too big as a size? Nope. But am I a fan of the XD wheels? That's another no, but that's personal preference. I think you have a good looking truck, but I wouldn't step up to a bigger wheel.

Yeah, I've learned a thing or two :p

Yeah, there aren't many 6 lug 15s offered. Most wheels start at about 16s, which I would be fine with on my truck.

yeah. and idk you may have to do 16’s if you do tundra brake upgrade. witch i don’t like very much, they feel A LOT softer than the taco brakes well at least the 2nd gen brakes. also could be the age of the brakes on dads tundra. idk, but every time i drive it i about hit people because i don’t press the brakes hard enough, than i get back in my truck and slam on the brakes just about locking them up and getting rear ended.

Well, I've never compared the 1st gen tundra brakes to the 1st gen taco brakes. I hear that it improves braking on our trucks...maybe it's because my truck weighs a lot less than a tundra. And I couldn't imagine a half ton brake not doing as we'll as a quarter ton brake...

yeah. i mean they are good. but on dad you have to push half the pedal in before it starts to do anything. maybe it’s just the pressure on dads truck is low?:notsure:

Yeah, that sounds like an issue with the master cylinder, not the actual brakes. Have you checked the brake fluid on it lately? Mine was a little mushy when I first bought it, but when I topped off all the fluids and gave it a full maintenance job, it braked better. I think doing the tundra upgrade would just be icing on the cake.
