Go to eBay, buy two catcons of 3" (2.5", or whatever the size needed). Go to a muffler shop and get them install them. Or just go to the muffler shop and get them install new cats on your truck. This will cost you $50 each plus $50 installation. Maybe some more...

Take your old cats and recycle them. Maybe you get $5 for each.

Don't you know those converters won't work on ours Tacoma trucks?. You could use those to replace the secondary converters, wich are not monitored by sensors. If this experiment doesn't work the way to go are new original cats, or a high quality magnaflow or equivalent...$1000 each.

Anyway, a experiment is not going to kill the truck, if it result to be useless you can always say " I knew from the beginning it were going to be a lost of time, and then be a totally demonstrated wiseman"

Right, because it only dissolves once with water, after that it breaks the laws of chemistry and physics and becomes dissoluble. In that case I have some dissoluble sugar for you to buy if you're interested (as well as a bridge) :p

If you don't rinse the cat off with purified water, there will be recrystallization of salts, which might do very bad things in the presence of palladium and very high temperatures. The safest thing to do is skip the baking soda and do a purified water rinse. (OK, really the safest thing is buy a new cat, but I am subbed anyways)

So then, why doesn't the calcium that deposits on the showerhead, why doesn't it dissolve With water anymore?

[EDIT: Calcium Carbonate is one of many shower head salts]

Why not? Do tacomas have wideband O2 sensors? It doesn't matter? Is the same... The first sensor read what's going out of the engine, and the second sensor read what's going after the cat, what should be cleaner and not oscillate like the first one...

$1000 each for catalytic converters! Wow! I think you want to say $100 each.

The dealer quoted me $1300 to do the Driver side upper cat. Where are you getting your numbers from? Use the search button or create another thread asking for opinions on non-Toyota Cats.

    or from the internet

    Really a $1300 for a catalytic!

Why tacomas can't use "magnaflow" cat converter (or normal)? Please talk more about that... I just want to know, learn. That's the purpose...

If you don't believe me call the dealer and tell them you are out of warranty and are getting a p0420 or p0430 CEL. Use the search button or create another thread asking for opinions on non-Toyota Cats.

The software in the ECM decides when a catalytic Is good or not. Something has Toyota done in their cats that make exhaust gases different in a way sensors notice it, and that my friend, Is beyond my knowledge.

Did you read the article at the begining of the thread..?.. it Is supposed to work. In my case, I will wait at least 200 miles without a check engine to have a conclusion..!
