Jeeze I leave this thread unattended for a little while and BOOM! Hehe.

Thanks for the awesome welcome everyone! To the person who was wondering about my trucks color it's called Ice Blue Metallic (in some places I've read) and
Cool Steel Metallic in others. Paint code 926. It's fun because it changes colors daily, it'll look blue, purple, silver, and grey!

Gasp I've been found! :D Yep those are my videos. Back when it was young. My truck hasn't seen Moab in a few years sadly. Between my dads truck and boyfriends (first gen Toyota pickup, 37's, duals, etc) my truck can't keep up on the trails we take with those so mine gets left at home. :( We usually go every year but we haven't been able to make it this year. We lost our house in the High Park Fire so we had to deal with that all summer which messed up our plans.

    Picture from our last trip.

This two trucks and my truck have been in All-Pro calendars as well so you might have seen them there.

New Girl - Old Girl (Seasoned)

This is my 3rd Toyota pickup since 1982. Needed a 4x4 for going up the mountain and looked around and noticed that all the young men seemed to be driving them everywhere and the trucks were surviving admirably, so I bought one. New: $10,000 Single cab, 4cyl - no other type available in Canada then. Drove it for 13 years up and down the mountain on a pot-holed gravel road for 90 days a season. The Warn hubs that you had to get out of the truck to turn. Used for hauling firewood, lumber, gravel and building supplies to my off-grid cabin. Sold it to a farmer at 280,000 miles. A year later it passed me on the highway! It still had my identifying decals.

Purchased # 2 new in 1994: $20,000. Same uses except the road up the mountain was paved ! Lots of logging road trips. Sold it to a friend for work up north at 250,000 miles.

Bought a 2006 on line. An imported US truck one year old. A 4 cylinder that the purchaser thought he would be using to tow his huge water skiing boat. Not. Flew to the interior and drove it back home. I had been trolling on line for a while for what I wanted. The 4 cyl. with the Access cab doors, and 4x4. The 4 cyl. weren't brought into Canada then, although they are now. Now I've had it for 5 years and it still does me yeoman's service. It hauled 3 kayaks and stacks of totes with paddling gear in my makeshift stake side set-up the 500 odd miles up north to my cabin this past spring. It goes up there deck-loaded every year as I'm still building off-grid.

Just had my first accident, ever! I kissed a bank of rural mailboxes trying to get off the road enough because of the vehicles behind me and got a tad too close. The edge of the mailboxes grabbed the edge of the front right fender and tore it off - all plastic, of course. Just picked it up from the body shop today: over $2000 in damage. I should have just pulled out my hairdryer and some bolts.

The only other thing I did was to tear off the front mudflaps driving on the beach through some rivers. They're hard plastic now and don't bend. The replacements from the dealership were a ridiculous price for the same useless thing, so off to trusty Canadian Tire to pick up a set of real rubber mudflaps for $38. A couple of bolts, nuts and washers and everything works now. The guys in the service department at Toyota told me that 98% of the trucks never go off road so the plastic flaps work fine. Hah !

Lots of adventures in those trucks over the years and they never let me down. Even had to chain it up once or twice when we had heavy wet snow up to the bumpers. Had a contest going up a snowy hill in town with a big Ford F250 4x4 and just walked away from it as they spun all four tires and never did make it up! What a feeling.

A truckload of shrieking teenage girls as we are sliding down the sheer icy mountain road. 4 WD doesn't help there. But rather than continuing across to the other side of the road where there was a VW van heading up, I clunked it into 4WD and gave it some gas and that straightened us out and the girls stopped shrieking. My theory is when in doubt, give it more gas !

Just purchased a sailboat and it's light enough to tow with my truck. I've towed a tent (pop-up) trailer with electric brakes with no problem, so I'm looking forward to some adventures on the water next.

Okay, so now you know a bit about my trucks. I've been driving (with a license) for 51 years so that will give you an idea of how old I am. Three grandchildren but they're not old enough to go bushwhacking yet. Soon.

Thanks for reading and I'm sure glad I found this Taco forum, although I already knew how to turn off the red maintenance light!! Ha ha.

My plans are to keep this truck going for at least 250,000 miles too. I have 70,000 on it now so I might just have it until my kids take my license away!!

    Bawwb
