body lifts {pros Vs. cons}????

alright well ive got an 05 tacoma with a revtek 3" lift kit, rancho RS5000 shocks, and 34" tires... everything works pretty well. but i would like to have a little more clearance in the wheel well for wen im off-roading. one suggestion i got from a friend was to get a 3" body lift. i jus wanna know wut the goods n bads are to the body lifts are.. a little help please. thanks.

 

Well....I personally don't like 3" body lifts for a couple reasons.

They leave an awefully large gap that looks a bit hidious (unless you do something to hide it).

The other reason is....and this isn't related to a tacoma - but enough to convince me... I knew a guy who had a Jeep Wrangler with a 3" body lift. He was in an emergency panic situation involving slamming on his brakes pretty damn hard. The force of the braking caused the body-lift bolts to sheer and caused the entire wrangler body to shift forward on the frame. Not something I'd wanna have happen....

I've actually got a 1" body lift on my jeep. I personally don't mind 1" (but that's it).

 

does anyone know if you need to buy UCA's if you get a body lift? I know they can fix the alignment issues that come from suspension lifts, but do those alignment issues even come up with body lifts?

 

Body lifts lift the body only. They have nothing to do with the suspension.
