Should I Wait To Buy A New Tacoma?

ill agree its obvious. im going to wait the 6 and invest the money in a 6month cd. so whatever intest and savings i have after that will start me on the track to a good lift and some wheels and tires

I could never afford one, I have however own a few Corvette's.

but a new 100 thousand dollar Porsche will probably never happen...

in reality, I'd be happy with a new fishing skiff for 10K.

Is the Tundra paid off? If yes than buying a new 30k vehicle is stupid, especially since the Tundra has such low miles. Why not get the actuator fixed and mod the Tundra? My friend has 2001 Tundra lifted riding on 33's and it looks bad ass. Also the sound the v8 produces is way sexier than the Tacoma's v6...

Tacoma has less power, less payload and the difference in gas mileage is very minimal.

 

I went through the Vette phase....I'm done. A new 911 would fit this old man quite nicely.

and hey, it doesn't even need to be a turbo...just a base 911 will do.

Exactly haha. I was strongly thinking about finding a car for gas mileage, but I realized I'd likely be a sitting duck in the winter so went for a truck. Now I can take just about whatever mother nature throws at me. Last year the day winter break started, I drove home from college in a moderately bad blizzard without any issues. Lots of kids had to stay behind and rent hotel rooms due to flight delays or the fact that their cars wouldn't make the trip. Not me, I was home safe and sound sitting around the wood stove that evening. Not to mention, you just never know when you're gonna need to haul something with that bed, worst part about that is everyone asks you to move or haul something for them once they see you got a truck.

 

Then you get one. i just dont like them. thats just my opinion

 

He's messing with your head lol. Lots of people on here do that, besides, there's a pretty hot thread in General Automotive about a guy switching from a Taco to Frontier going on right now, check it out for laughs.

Carful man Nissan is one of the only brands that have really rare and hard to fine classics that are one of the best long lasting cars. Nissan is like a brother of Toyota. People dream to own one of the classic cars of Nissan. Especially the 1987 classic skyline and the datsuns. The frontier has the same rear locker as the Tacoma and there good trucks but the market for those trucks ain't as big as the Tacoma. I still would prefer Tacoma over a frontier but don't be ignorant. Japanese cars are really realiable especially older cars

 

This, problem with older ones is rust. You were lucky to get 5 years out of an old import driving it in the rust belt. It's still hard on newer cars, but not as bad as it used to be. Most old Toyota pickups I've seen around here have the distinction of rusting apart before their engine gives up the ghost which is really cool in my eyes. This one guy I saw at the gas station had an 80s 2WD pickup that the panels were so rusty it looked like I could just pull one of them off with a little effort, but he got in it and fired it up and it sounded like a sewing machine. Bet he is still driving it. Also, I recall reading somewhere that Nissan is the #2 Japanese car company, didn't tell me who was the first, but it has to be Toyota or Honda.

 

I will skip the financial lesson, since you did not ask for my opinion on that.

From my experience in high school, wait till you graduate. If possible, wait till you're done will college as well. School campuses are a bad environment for a shiny new truck. Lots of jealously going around. My truck got messed with all the time in school. It was 10 years old at the time.

 

Frontiers don't hold value either
