STOLEN! In Phoenix :(

Yeah, I know the feeling. I think it's going to end up being traded anyway just because it's not even out of warranty yet and who knows WTF happened to it that night. Would've been easier to have a check in hand from the insurance, but at least this way I get to recover my HID lights and at least know the truck's not being used for who knows what.

 

Well I had the key, but it wouldn't start the truck so it was towed to the dealer for the night. It seems just fine now, the key will start it and everything. I had to drive it a couple blocks over to their body shop this morning because it was just sitting outside the service bay, and all insurance work goes through their body shop.

 

What part of town did they find it in?

 

Many years ago I had a car stolen. It was recovered a week later. The cops arrested three kids selling crack out of the trunk. The interior was trashed, but it was salvageable. A couple days later I realized I was being followed around town. This happened a few times. When I would stop and get out, the cars following me would speed off. My car was marked, the users knew it had been used as a mobile drug house. I traded it the next week.

so it doesnt sound even close to totalled. i bet they fix it up good. you did tell the insurance company about the $5000 shotgun you had in the back..right?

sucks. if you trade it in, and get another, you will be further behind. you will lose even more money, no? either way, i hope it works out so you are happy.

Yeah, it's definitely not totalled. Just minor repairs from them roughing up the interior and stealing the antenna. Couple little scratches on the driver's door where I guess they popped the door open.

I'll have to get solid numbers before I do, but if I can I would like to trade it at this point since it's still so new.

 

Not sure if anyone said this but they broke the XM antenna off because they thought that would allow the truck to be tracked.

 

That's a good point. Didn't think of that. Well, next time around there will be a GPS antenna hidden somewhere deep in the truck

I'm starting to think I'd rather have the cops find my truck vs me. I'd go to jail if I caught the SOB who stole my truck.

I've heard this is the preferred method of choice for cars that are getting chop shopped now. Nobody blinks an eye at a tow truck today with all the repos and stuff going on, but messing with door locks and wires is a little more suspicious...

Best way to not get a truck stolen buy a police boot for the wheels(they may strip it and take 3 wheels) but the truck cant be towed without damage.

 

There are plenty of ways to get that boot off. I watched my buddy in Denver air his tire down, drive forward about a foot, boot slipped right off.. Scratched the inside of his wheel but who cares since you can't see that part anyways.

 

Tjat sucks man I had my 82 stolen till I found it on craigslist setup a test drive verified my vin than opened a can of whoop on the dude that stole it and the cops didn't even give me a ticket and my truck wasn't damaged at all

 

Sorry to hear about the theft. Put a Ravelco on my 2008 TRD Sport a couple of months after I got it. Researched and found not one vehicle stolen equipped with one. Usually people will be pretty ticked if they spent a bunch of money on a security device that didn't work...at least I would. No negative stuff anywhere on the web about Ravelco. I live in a fairly secure place but anytime the truck is parked, the plug is on my pocket. The thief can have a key, computer to swap, or anything else he wants but time enough to defeat it. All the connections are under the hood. Short of a tow truck, mine goes nowhere without me.

Cutting the wheels all the way one direction would require they break the steering lock/ignition. Sounds like they didn't do that in your case. I would feel violated as you do.
