I'm sorry for you loss has become a knee jerk phrase for most people when talking to someone that has lost someone. Most people that say that do so because they don't know what else to say. As a result it conveys little in the sense of caring or sympathy.

When people are mourning it's helpful to know that there are people that care around them. I heard that so much in the first few weeks after they passed from people that couldn't have given two flying fucks less about my loss that it turned me off on the phrase for the rest of my days. I've heard the same from others.

So be more like Jesus. Break bread, bring wine and raise the dead

 

Enders - I know exactly how you feel. I lost my mom on 12/9/07 in a motorcycle accident. She was at a red light, that had just turned green. The guy driving the van hit her from behind at roughly 50 mph.

My mom had always said, you should celebrate the persons life rather than mourn their death.

 

Talked to my bro in law last night,who as I told you is in coast guard, he did his first 2 yrs in Alaska and then did A school in Yorktown, he now is stationed in San Francisco and spent a week there then 2 weeks in Hawaii!!!! But....now he's on a ship in the arctic circle monitoring an Exxon rig drilling for oil!!!! Needless to say he's not happy about it but he does LOVE the coast guard....but you may want to prepare yourself for cold weather no matter what they tell you

THIS/\/\/\/\ As you know my current situation, you must know that no matter what branch, you may be given jobs that you don't exactly agree with. But you have to be the best at whatever task you are given. Don't EVER let one duty station or duty assignment be your deciding factor on weather you like it or love it!
