I have looked and looked locally and even tried to stay close to home while meeting the requirements below, but the closest I could find is in Missouri.

    Requirements:
    • Tacoma
    • Double Cab
    • 4x4
    • TRD Sport
    • 2009+
    • Not Blue, Tan or Red
    • < $25k
I ended up finding one in Missouri for 23k. It's a 2010, Double Cab, 4x4, TRD Sport, Black Sand Pearl, 6cyl, Auto trans, Long Bed, with 45k miles.

Plan is to fly from Seattle to St. Louis on Friday, take possession and start the drive back.

Let me know what you guys think!

That's a great deal, OP! But I guess the cost of picking it up and driving it back will equal out to about how much I paid for mine...which is still a fair price.

    Good luck!

Sounds like a decent price, but I would hate to travel that distance without having laid eyes on the truck or driven the truck. Just me, but that seems to be a risk. With 45K miles, the previous owner may have babied the truck, or he may have driven it hard and never did maintenance on it. I would think you would be able to find one closer to you for a comparable price (including you plane ticket, hotel, gas, and other miscellaneous expenses) if you continue to search.

You asked for our opinions, so there it was. Don't take it wrong, but I was just letting you know how I would approach the purchase.

Good luck with your decision, and post some pics when you do get your Tacoma!

Yep, thanks for the responses. I did ask for feedback, so fire away.

A plane ticket is going to run me $300, fuel will run $450, and I will sleep in the back overnight on the recovery. I do a lot of camping/backpacking anyways, so I will being some gear.

So, add $750 give or take for the recovery.

I just posted some pics that I was sent. I meant to put this in originally, but I fixed it this time around.

Traveler, I like where your head's at :). I have a bunch of friends and family around there, I may have to do that.

Also, I really wish I could find a truck that met all of the requirements, but they just don't exist in Washington. I did a lot of analysis, and this is the option that made the most sense. I could have had it shipped here, but it would have cost me more, and I wouldn't have had the option of walking away with only a plane ticket fare lost.

    Go for it!

August 1 of this year, I drove over 800 miles from Nashville, TN to just north of Austin, TX to buy my Tacoma. I did the entire purchase over phone, email and texting without ever a test drive until arriving. I traded in my 2000 Subaru Outback to get a 2006 silver Tacoma DCLB with Leer topper with 112k miles. It drove well. I camped two nights while driving back and slept in the truck bed (6 ft bed is key there).

Since then, it drives even better. I've changed all fluids except trans, new spark plugs, aFe air flter, put on new Billy 5100's, and added a Yakima rack, bed mat, running boards and Weather techs. I did all the work myself, very rewardable.

The gas mileage is below my expectations but the truck exceeds my expectations, so i wouldn't change it. Couldn't be happier. Taking my daughter camping soon.

    Best of luck and enjoy!

Not really, a 2010 could have been bought in 2009 around this very month which would be 3 years at 15k a year. Sure it could be only 2 actual years old but you won't know the manufactured and/or original sale date until seeing the paperwork or door stamps.

Ive got 63k miles on my 2010. It drives just like it did at 10k. Dont worry about the mileage. It will be fine as long as the previous owner changed the engine oil regularly. It may need spark plugs and a few other little things, but thats it.

Yeah, I am not worried about the mileage. I think it's fairly reasonable. I looked at the Carfax which shows that it was sold in late 09.

congrats on the new truck. that is a cool way to "get to know" your truck by taking it on a cross country road trip. i hope the truck turns out to be everything you hope it to be. in the past while looking for used cars i can't count how many times i took a trip to a car lot to have my dreams crushed by finding that the vehicle wasn't as nice as described. too far for me to take a chance like that on a used car but that is only my thoughts based on what has happened to me in the past. post pics of the journey home and have a safe trip!

Looks almost just like mine, except yours is black.

I bought mine sight unseen with 60k Kms on it never looked back. All records were there and it was maintained as per the factory manual. The truck was exactly what I wanted.. and then i added all my gizmos and add ons!

Are maintanence records included with this one? Private sale or dealer? Able to contact the PO?

Yep, I think I will know the truck pretty well after this trip. I plan to get a solid oil change and other maintenance for a solid trip. Anything else I should do? Injector cleaner?

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Sounds like a good time! I got my truck and drove it 450 miles home so that gave me plenty of time to familiarize myself with it as well. And you're lucky, this time of year there's got to be some spectacular fall scenery going on with all the colors and such, you're gonna have a blast! You should take pictures and make a thread about it, that would be cool!

I bought my truck 1600 miles away. I drove it when I was literally 13 years old so technically I drove it before I bought it. But it was from family so I knew what to expect.
