Hi everyone , longtime reader first real post. I have been searching and searching so I didnt have to ask but no luck.
Question: Does anyone see a problem running a spare 265/75 r16 on a TRD sport with 265/70 r17 wheels ? according to the tire calculator there is only a very small difference in the 2. Anyone doing this or have any experience with this ?
I ask because it seems like single 265/75 r16 are easier to come by than a single 265/70 r17.

    Thanks

your spare tire is mounted on a 16inch rim?

should be ok if you only plan on doing it in the event you need a spare and not run the spare permanently

    Not an issue.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
Ehh...not really since he has a mechanical LSD in the rear.

    Yeah, what jhodge said...

It won't be an issue since the tire sizes are the same but if you have to run different sized tires on a vehicle with limited slip, you don't want to run them on the axle with the mechanical limited slip. It can cause some issues while driving.

thanks guys , Yeah am fully aware of running different size tires with LSD , lockers etc,
but as 265/75 r16 is so close to 265/70 r17 I was thinking there would be no issue.

    cheers

You will have 0.04" difference, there should be no problem.

There shouldn't be an issue since they are that close, just clearing up the general rule.

Good catch, was typing fast on my phone and that came out terrible. Meant to say be careful if running in the rear. I wouldn't recommend using it for an extended period of time. Thanks for the correction.
