I have to ask a serious common sense question....

Why would you take a truck with a factory cold air intake and spend money to make it a hot air intake?

I see no advantage whatsoever to this mod and IMO it's actually much worse then the way it came from the factory. Sucking warm air through a filter with more surface area is not more efficient then sucking cooler air through a filter with smaller surface area....or am I crazy?

    Am I missing something?

    total cost; around $50.

and this is where a lot of people are wrong. You can easily upgrade the intake, and some aftermarket ones do that. Increasing the flow and lowering the restriction (something that the stock intakes are ALWAYS horrible for is just as bad as losing a few degrees in air temp.

Took it out for some bird hunting in the North Maine Woods this afternoon with my dog. Got two birds.

Then came home to find the light bar NHCrewcab2008 fabbed up for me had arrived. So, I installed it. Very easy and straight forward. He did an awesome job, it came out fantastic, and was exactly what I was looking for.

It only has "seals" to look sealed. Look real good at the bottom under the wire harness. It's wide open sucking heat directly from the headers. It's also wide open by the washer resi on the fender side.

Not sure how you treat your truck, but mine see's a good deal of water/mud. The dirtiest spot on my hood is always right above where that filter is. IMO it's not going to gain any performance and now that I think about it one hell of a good way to suck water into your engine if your going to fast.

    Here you go... LINK

Not many people go for it because it is a bit on the expensive side. If you shop around you may find it for a few bucks less than what you see on the Tuffy site.
