Until I can save for a Sturdy Safe, I have this model. Loaded it myself in my truck after waiting on Lowes people to round up 3 people to do it. I put it on my second floor with one of those refrigerator dollies and me yanking it up each stair. Prolly sounded like someone was getting killed but I got it done. This is a generic new construction house and it didn't damage anything. Good luck man.

I've had it for a month or so, and just finally had to recharge it last weekend. They claim its supposed to last up to 30 days.

I had lowes people load it into my truck..Me and my dad got it home, took the door off and went upstairs. I bet that door alone weighs 100lbs

Before you guys sink several thousands into Liberty or similar safes, at least watch some youtube videos on Sturdy Safe. All the weight in the world doesn't matter if they can pop the door. Look at some of these safes that have 40 bolts around the door....seems impressive until you look at what the bolts catch on. Sturdy Safes are a bit different and mimic actual bank safes.

I know they aren't pretty but at least watch the videos before sinking thousands into a store safe.

Liberty has good fire ratings..Even the 12 gun model is rated for I think 30 minutes, at 1200*

Quick search on youtube about Liberty lead me to a guy who didnt know what he was talking about. He was doing a "review", and said his Liberty was made over seas. Incorrect. They are made in the US, and I believe in NJ.

I won't buy one with less than a 60 minute burn time. And preferably 1400*

Thats one of the big ones..I just stated that even the "cheap" one is fire rated for a half an hour. Unless your in a massive fire like the ones that consumed houses out west, or in the middle of nowhere where it will take the fire company longer to respond, I think that 30 minutes is fine.

I'll take that advice. Thank you! I live less than a mile from the fire house. Small town in the sticks

No problem. I live within minutes of 2 fire companys, plus my own which makes 3. Response times are minimal since most people live nearby, and can jump on an engine and be out of the station in less then 2 minutes from dispatch. Still 28 minutes to get there, set up and get interior. Good thing about Liberty (and I'm sure others), is they have this door seal called palusol. It expands when it gets to a certain temp, helping to block out smoke and water.

A safe is great but having homeowners or renters insurance is a good thing to have as well.

I use both and wouldn't have as many guns as I do if I didn't use both.

Somebody breaks into your place and trashes the safe and takes all your guns, you get all new toys!

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I didnt say all of the safes they carry are made in the USA. I just said i would buy from a store that specializes in them.

    Maybe its just me...

    Save your money.
A family member bought the biggest, baddest, shiniest Ft Knox and was proud to show it off....until his garage fire ruined his gun collection.
The insurance company now owns his guns.
The only difference btw fire ratings in a layer of 1/2" drywall.
    Seriously.
All this talk about spending extra is ridiculous.
Buy bigger than what you think you need.
    66" safes are the shit.
