Odd Tire Wear, Only One tire

I had the tires rotated on the wife's 2001 Camry (149K miles) this morning. The rear tire on the driver side has noticeable wear on the inner tread. Not to the point of being slick or belts showing, but you could easily see the difference. The other 3 tires all had normal wear across the treads. These are Michelins with about 50K miles on them; all replaced at the same time.

The only suspension work that has been done is both ball joints were replaced last year. I had it aligned then.

 

Forgot to mention that the air pressure was OK in all tires.

Inside tire wear is camber issue.

Any unusual noise or bottoming out with that rear end...

We have had 2 Camrys with irregular rear tire wear and both times it was "tired" rear struts but both were older models...My '92 & '95 each had over 100k....'92 had bad cupping plus dead bump while the '95 took the inside of tire and "rolled" into hard corners...

 

Not familiar with the Camry suspension, but it may also have a toe adjustment on the rear, but yes... that would cause feathering more than extreme wear on the inside.

 

What kind of pattern of wear is there? i.e High/Low spots? Balding but even wear?

-Check balance (more than likely not your cause, but any tire wear issue should start with a simple, is it balanced or not, check)

-Check alignment (rear toe is adjustable on the camy)

Do these few things and check back.

 

Chris, it is uneven wear; inside tread (2" wide from inner sidewall) more worn than rest of tread.

I had the alignment checked OCT12. Turns out the toe was a bit out.
