I bought my truck from a dealer in Canada, however it's a US truck. When I picked it up there were no key fobs with the vehicle, so I ordered 2 and made an appointment to have them programmed. Left the truck with them for most of the day only to have them tell me my truck is not equipped with this feature. I find it hard to believe a 2010 4x4 sr5 dbl cab would not come standard with this option? Either it doesn't or these guys are out to lunch... They couldn't search the vin also being a US truck. Any way to tell by looking under the hood somewhere? Thx

keyless entry is a standard feature if you have power door locks. They are full of it.

Ya it has power locks.... Either they have no clue or are having a problem with programming for some reason? I dunno, maybe time to go to another dealer.

Got rid of the Dungflops. Lift to come.
Paying to have the fob programmed is insane. I did both of mine within 5 minutes. Paid like 25 a piece for the fobs.

All SR5's are keyless entry capable if I'm not mistaken. That's what the SR5 package is all about.

When I purchased my Tacoma used, it had an alarm system on it with engine start. I don't like it though as I can not get the chirps turned off and the manufacturer does not have a specific manual for it. So it does lock, but I am always messing up the alarm and it chirps for everything. So, I want to just add an original fob. Can I do that with the current aftermarket alarm in place, or do I have to remove the after market alarm, disconnect wires or ? Yeah I don't know much about these systems.

    Thanks

You should report this to Toyota Canada. Your dealer is no doubt screwing you around, incompetent or both. Either way a report is merited.

Canadian dealers HATE working on US trucks and they told me that to my face.

They also said they don't like installing items from the US on Canadian vehicles. A way to protect Toyota Canada profit or something like that.

Please keep us advised as I also have a 2010 with power door locks and no remote. I've ordered a remote from:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-3-BU...fits=Model:Tacoma&hash=item415b459c7e&vxp=mtr

Some sites claim that 2010's have to be programed by a dealer or lock shop. Others claim that 2010's can be programed at home with supplied instructions. I should receive the remote this next week and will try to program it. I'll post the results. If anyone else has information to add regarding remotes and 2010's Tacoma's would be appreciated.

I've noticed you have a 2010 as I do and mine is base model. No SR5, not TRD but black fender/black bumper/no chrome/no fog light base. When I bought it brand new, I received two fobs with mine.

Where did you get the fobs from? I don't know for sure but I'm wondering if the Canadians use a different frequency for the remote then the US that is possible. If that's the case you maybe able to souse them from the US.
