    I worked swing shifts at Dow for ten years, not the best, but I have learned how to sleep during the day when I need to. I'd probably stay on swing shifts for at least a year, then have a shot for straight days.

    spent many years on swing shift. Sometimes it was better.... I actually got things done during the day, where after coming home from working day shift, was too pooped (aka lazy) to do any yard work, etc... Never had a problem sleeping.

    I thought it was something along the lines of "we made the playoffs and you didn't, we played more so we deserve more" :notsure:
    Whatever the reason is I hope they get it sorted out soon!!!

    Last time the NHL went on strike and wiped out a whole season was over salaries. Well however they settled the profits (after salaries) went into a joint account for all the teams. The NHL has been more profitable then they had imagined and now there is a windfall. No one can decide how to divide up the money that has been accrued over several seasons.

    And I have tried to make my own bread. I have a focaccia (italian flatbread) that I like but that's it. The rest is icky. :(

    But now you've been out of the habit..could you get back on that schedule?

    Never gonna happen. People are too greedy.

    The teams do a lot of charity work already. The CO Avalanche do a lot of skating clinics for little kids, they volunteer at the Denver Children's Hospital...and then there are the "Avs Better Halves" aka the players' wives. They do food and clothing drives and fundraising for all sorts of things like breast cancer research.

    the last lockout was primarily about the salary cap, owners wanted it NHLPA didn't.
    this time around the owners want the players share of hockey related revenue to go from 57% to 43%, which works out to a 25% pay cut for the players.
    a percentage of player salaries go into an escrow account. this is to ensure that the owners do not end up paying the players more than their share (57% last season). if the owners are shorted at the end of the season they take as much from the escrow account as necessary to bring their share up to the agreed percentage (43% last season), the rest is then paid to the players.

    But there is a surplus of $$ after the last few seasons no? And they are debating who gets what amount? At least that was my understanding of the situation.
