Hey everyone, thanks for the link to the trainer Lisa, but I have tried them and I just can't use them, I get bored and quit. My best bet is to have some good quality winter clothes and just deal with the cold. I've got some of the stuff in Tom's link (thanks Tom). My biggest problem in the cold is my toes freeze, tried a few different things but haven't got it figured out yet. I even tried these packets you squish up and put inside your shoes, didn't work. I'll look into some decent winter shoes that are good to ride in. I'm going to build a fire today and take it easy watching football. Enjoy the long weekend everyone!

Try a goretex sock covered with a wool sock. I have tried electric socks but really did not like them.

I am guessing that there are socks that are better than Goretex on the market these days.

Also for fingers nothing beats mittins.

The house is coming along - we are working at little stuff (trim, unpacking, killing bees) and are happy living there. Jack has a trampoline in the backyard that he LOVES!

Bike rides and hanging with the boy is all thats on my list today. Maybe I'll finally get that last seat cover on.

    .
I have a system with gortex socks and I use these toe warmers on top on the sock over my toes, i usually wear tennys and it works for me. I also use Under Armor fitting leggings and long-sleeve top under my sweat-shirt and pants along with a 0 degree pair of gloves that have the wind protectors finger pocket thingys that block the wind off of my fingers, thus far this set-up is good down to about 38* ambeint with the wind chill dipping down to about 29-30 degrees.

OK Dave I had to think of how I do my set-up for cold, the Under-Armour leggings are not cheap, but worth every penny. I stretch the leggings around my feet to under the heel and over the toes, kinda like footies on kid's PJ's, then the Goretex socks and the toe warmers over the sock. though the toe warmers don't cover every inch of the top of my toes, it's heat is enough to keep my toes from going numb.
And Chris, yes it does get that cold in Cali, down here in the inland valleys periodic cold snaps will hover around 38-40ish at night with usually one or two small hard freezes every winter.

you don't even know what cold is.
