And your super secret source of information on the 2013 3rd Gen is?????

Toyota spent a lot of money on the front end and dash redesign.
They aren't going to throw it away on a single production year.

    Look at Toyota's history:

    Rav4: 1st Gen '94-'00, 2nd Gen '01-'03 - Facelift in '04-'05, model redesigned in '06.
Tundra: 1st Gen '00-'02, Facelift in '03-'06, model redesigned in '07.
Tacoma: 1st Gen '95-'00, Facelift in '01-'04, model redesigned in '05.
The HiLux/Pickup generally ran about 5 years between major redesign.

I would not be surprised to see a 3rd-Gen Tacoma for model year 2014, and will be surprised if we don't see one in 2015, but 2013 is too early.
The 2nd Gen is certainly due for a redesign after 7 years, but we just got the facelift. The Tundra is now 5 years old and as mentioned above, is overdue for updates to remain competitive against the "Big-3"

I'm currently in Egypt and it amazes me that almost everything is turbo diesel. Common Toyota, get us a turbo diesel tacoma! Over here in africa the people who can afford a hilux (not too many) wish they had Petro engines! Guess with gas being about .80 a gallon they don't mind the poor fuel economy of the gas engines. If I didn't already own a 2011 Tacoma I'd buy a turbo diesel HiLux while I'm here. buying it duty free, I could get a 4x4 turbo diesel for about 20,000usd brand new. I hope the 3rd gen isn't a replica of the Hilux, but I'd love to see a turbo diesel!

Probably cause this country can't keep up with the demand. Everyday I see each gas stations along Ring Road, lined up 20 semi trucks deep waiting in the diesel pump line

I'm I probably act like I'm from the other side of the pond but what would be awesome if we got the Hilux rebadged as the Tacoma here in the States. Or at the very least the diesel that's in the Hilux with a 5 or 6 speed manual.

the black photo shopped tacoma is the best looking toyota truck i have ever seen minus the old school 1980's body styles.

make the 3rd gen look like this and offer the d4d across the entire model range. then toyota would literally rule the mid sized truck segment instead of just making something a little better than the other guys.

That black photshopped Tacoma is very nice looking, hopefully Toyota makes the next gen look that good.

That chopped prerunner truck looks intimidating. I just purchased a 2013 and thought the front end upgrade was much needed and looks quite good.
This possible next gen front end would be intense, I'd definitely be jealous of it.

I might be by myself on this one, but I think that truck is hideous. I don't like the new front ends at all....

You're not alone...I hope they don't mimic the 4-runner front ends

We'll probably find out for sure around mid 2014. Unless the redesign is in 2016 which is what I read. If that's the case, then we'll see something around mid 2015!

And yes, I'm a complete smart ass.

My guess is that Chevy, Ford and Dodge pay Toyota a shit ton of money to keep their diesels out of the tundra and tacoma in the american market.

Squared off like that, that truck looks more like a nissan titan, the cab to box looks too boxy like the f150 imo.
