    Hey Guys,
I am in the process of wiring an led light bar to my truck. My question is, what wire can I tap into that is under the dash. Looking for 12v wire. Have the colors changed for 2012 can anyone give me a color to tap to?

    Thanks
    Fynn

Add-a-circuit directly from the fuse box.

Depends on what you are installing.

Fuse should be 130% of the intended load.
Wire capacity should be 130% of the fuse rating.

Couple of little 3w LED lamps and you could run that on 18ga with a 3a fuse.
If you're talking lamps that are comparable to factory fogs, it's going to take more, and potentially a relay under the hood to switch the higher current load.

Nobody can tell you more than that without knowing exactly what you have and what you want to do.

cool thanks for the info! I am installing a blitzpro 21'' LED Bar. Not sure how much they pull, probably very little though. Got an add-a-circuit and going to use one of the blank spots in the fuse box paired with a 10 amp fuse

Probably a good idea to use a relay anyways.

hey guys so just finished the light bar. Flick the switch, and nothing. I double checked everything and I think I'm good. Put the add-a-circuit into a blank slot in the fusebox on the left of the steering wheel and put 2 five amp fuses to it. That wire went to the bottom prong of the switch. Wire from middle prong goes to light. Top prong is ground. Light is grounded, also has a 10 amp fuse in the line going to the light. what am I doing wrong here?

What did you plug the add-a-circuit into? Look at the cover of the fuse panel. Did you check to see if it had power when you want it, i.e. Anytime(when key is off) or ACC(only when key is ON)

I would think as long the combined is lower than what the 'empty slot' you plugged it into calls for it should be ok.

alright well empty spots all just show a / Could I plug the add-a-circuit into the ACC fuse slot and run a 7.5 fuse along with a 5 amp? My add-a-circuit has 2 slots, one for original fuse and the other fuse for the wire....

Stop right now, disconnect everything, and get some help from someone that knows what the fuck they are doing and who can be there with you before you burn out your dash.

The add-a-circuit is a very simple item. If you are having trouble with it, you should not be asking for help from the internet.

Safest route would be to use the AAC to power a relay and have your source power come from the Battery. Then you wouldn't need to worry about over drawing a circuit in your fuse block.

I would imagine that as long as you don't go over the capacity for the size of the wire you should be fine. But if there wasn't anything in there before you only need one fuse to go to the light bar. The other one is for if you had a fuse in there before.

Check to make sure you have the appropriate fuse in the top of the fuse tap, then put a 5amp in the lower. I'd suggest using a fuse slot that does not require the key to be on or in the acc position. Reason being is that it's a hassle to turn the truck on if all you need to do is find something in the bed.

Check out this guy's DIY and modify his process for yours.

I'm confuse on what you have with the prongs. I don't recall the Add-A-Circuit having a ground to connect to.

Yeah I would recommend using a fuse that is always hot unless you plan on only having it on with the key in the ignition.
