I will release the details after an agreement has been reached between the other party and myself...

Let's say someone did an oil change on a 2012 V6 taco and left out one "minor" step...such as DRAIN the old oil. The truck was driven about 30 miles total (home from the oil change) before it was noticed. Mostly normal driving but maybe 3/4 throttle a few times. Once it was noticed, I slowly started draining oil (about a quart between checking the dipstick) until I got about 5-6 quarts and the dipstick registered "full".
I felt that it was idling rough when I picked it up but I'm always paranoid and kind of a hypochondriac when someone works on my stuff. No abnormal noises. It was dark outside so I did not notice any smoke. The oil removed was extremely dark.

    My questions are:
1)What damage could be done by running an extra 5-6 quarts of oil?
2)What parts need to be changed?
3)Any long term damage or future damage to expect?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Oh my.

A friend did something like that (actually he said he just put in a quart too much oil) and he blew some kind of seal in there. But then again, he drove it till oil was splattering every where.

I can't say for these trucks, but I assume the same would be true. There could be cam shaft damage. But you didn't drive that far. I'm sure one of the local engine experts will chine in here any second.

Was wondering what made you realize that the old oil wasn't drained? You are lucky you found out.

My friend found out the hard way when there was a bad smell from the splattered oil on hot surfaces and a little bit of smoke. Then he asked my other friend and that's when he was informed he put in too much.

    1 ) None
    2) none
    3) your cats may have issue if oil went through the system but if you had TOOO much oil they would throw the code right away.

So there won't be too much pressure, causing seals to leak? Huh. Wonder why my friend's car did that.

It should not, unless something else is busted or he was racing engine.
Saw people doubling up oil, on LC forum, and they all ended up with sluggish truck but no extra leaks.
Double of the oil should still have plenty of room in the engine. Now if you try revving up engine to 4000 - 5000 RPMS then maybe . But for normal driving nothing really happens. Engine runs in slight vacuum thanks to all the emissions junk. Thats why when you have vacuum leak runs like crap...

Disagree. My friends and I had the same thing happen to us, and the engine hydro locked.

Hmmm okay. Maybe it's because it's a different car/different engine? This was a brand new Toyota Corolla, guy tried to do his first oil change at 5k miles. He's a geeky kind of guy and not really the type to try to gun the motor. He drives so slow he scares me. Not sure how long it took for it to spill the oil all over the engine compartment (I think he drove it to LA from SF a couple of days after the oil change) but poor guy was freaked when he opened the hood. Ended up almost running the engine dry, the oil sprayed so much.

I always do a "post" inspection after work is performed. I noticed the drain plug had not been touched (previous torque strip was intact) and came to the conclusion because of the amount and color, that the old was not drained.

I would contact the person who did your oil change and make sure they didn't drain any fluid out. They might have drained your transmission and put new oil in the engine. It's happened before and they would have gotten around 5 - 6 quarts out of the transmission and it they were brain dead, or not paying attention, they might not have noticed that it was red and they made a mistake...
