    I vote option C

GET RID OF ALL THE CARPET and vaccuum on bare floor all the time! Best decision I ever made. I tore all mine out last year with the exception of the two spare bedrooms. I HATE carpet. It's like a sponge for filth. Not to mention, I can vaccuum the house in half the time it took when I had carpet.

I agree with you though... There's no added benefit and you're potentially damaging the vaccuum and the carpet.

The wife is ALWAYS correct--just ask HER!!!
Life is too short--just agree and DO IT YOUR WAY.
    OPPS sorry !!!!
Right or wrong-just let her BELIEVE she is correct.
It will make YOUR life easier.
Or, if you vacuume---do a real shitty job--she will not make you do it again.
Arguements-the wife always wins--one way or another--want sex?
    She is always right--just saying!!!!!

Vacuums have a height level for a reason. If it didn't matter what the height was then they wouldn't have added that feature. If you want it your way forever then super glue the height adjustment at the level you want. She might get a little mad though...

If the OP would post pics of his wife using the vacuum cleaner while wearing heels and lingerie...

it would allow us to make the correct decision as to the proper use of said vacuum.

I voted her way but actually get a decent vacuum that has enough power to spin the brushes. I also have a dog and a cat so just having the brushes graze the top of the carpet is pointless in my house.

You could buy a cheap vacuum without height adjustment... poof, the argument is gone!

However option C is far superior.

I didn't read through the thread but... I bought an auto adjusting Dyson (woman proof) vacuum and gave the GF my old one. Needless to say the old one (great working order, just not enough for my dogs) burnt up in a month. She has since purchased her own but it is not auto adjust... I've informed but she ain't listening, oh well maybe she'll learn by time it's "commitment time" for me. If she hasn't learned, I gotta move on! Them Dyson's are pricey!!!

Wood is really nice, but I also really like slate and Mexican pavers.

Friend in AZ has all slate tile floors and it's super sweet... stays nice and cool.

too hard on the feet & back for this old guy.

    and wife despises tile grout.

yeah, the wood gets beat up...but that's part of the beauty, and also why went reclaimed pine.

    Reclaimed pine?

    That's cheating.

That's like spending $2500 on a "Relic" Stratocaster instead of buying a production model and playing it for 20 years!

just like an old Strat. :D
