TW's millionth lift help request thread!

Sorry I know there are a lot of thread out there and that you guys don't like them because they're already so many out there, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable spending my money knowing I'm getting exactly what I want and that's why I joined this site, so sorry but I'm going to ask anyways and hope for some help:

I want the lift kit for off roading but I'd still like a decent ride, and I plan on towing a smaller toy hauler trailer eventually. I want about a 3 inch lift for my truck and to level it, I was originally looking at the OME lift kit from Toytec but it's telling me spacers for the 3 inch lift so I figured I'd just spend the extra $200 and get the bilstein 5100 lift kit because it give 3 inches as is. And then reading around everyone says to get leaf pack rather than aal so I was thinking of getting the dakar leafpack and then reading on here people say to get that and then do the toytec aal and adding it to the dakars. Do I need the Rear ToyTec Add-A-Leafs or the 1 1/2" Lift rear add-a-leaf for Tacoma with rear TSB springs? And most importantly would this be a good lift or is there a better option for me? Sorry for the thread again but I just want to be sure this is what I should get before I spend all of my money.

If you get the dakars you wont be level, dakars will lift you about 2.5 to 3 inches in the rear. OME makes a AAL for the dakars, i havnt heard of anyone using toytec AAL with the dakars. Dakars are suposed to be great for towing, but since you have the tsb you might not need them. As far as OME front vs 5100s there is a ton of threads on here comparing them. The bilstiens pre-load your coils, so there isnt much difference between a small spacer with OME and preloading with the 5100s. I vote OME for everything, thats why i bought but havnt installed it yet.

Left something out, you might know this already but the OME 885x coils will lift the front around 2.5 inches, the spacers from toytec will only be 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch iirc, i decided to do no spacers in front and dakars in the rear which will keep the factory rake give or take.

 

And that right there is why I'm glad I made a thread, I have no clue what I'm talking about, hahaha. Thanks for that. Anyone else have anything they can add?

 

What size tires are you wanting to run? This would help to determine what direction to go with the lift
And a budget would help also

Thats what im getting also. So ya you wanna go 2.5 to 3 inches in front to keep rubbing to a minimum for regular driving. If you dont already know this, you will probably want to buy new upper control arms to correct alignment issues caused by the lift, i bought the spc light racing UCAs, they are pretty much the most affordable aftermarket UCAs. The 5100s can be a cheaper option because you can use the stock coils with the shocks, however most people would not recomend it because it makes your ride much stiffer, so if you end up getting new shocks and coils it pretty much comes down to preference for OME vs bilstein. If you want to be level i would look into toytecs AAL that is compatible with the tsb leaf pack, then get bilsteins with new lift coils so you can adjust the height to get it level. Most people on the site would recommend OME, and thats what i went with, but i dont mind a little rake and i dont need the adjustable shocks.
