45503 is the right part. I can't believe Toyota charges that much for it!

Swapping it out is easy. Just need 1 large adjustable wrench, and 1 VERY large adjustable wrench. I have a spud wrench that works perfectly for this.

If you're buying the good stuff, I'd go ahead and install it on your truck and keep the old one as the spare. No point in having new parts sitting around collecting dust. Plus, it's good practice to make sure you know how to do the swap and that you have the right tools.

    fuck that!

If replacing the driver's side, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. Opposite if working on the passenger side.

Pop off the castle nut and hit the spindle with a metal hammer to get the outer tie rod end out of the spindle. The vibrations from the hammer strike unseat the tie rod end, so you gotta hit the spindle hard.

Slide the rubber boot to expose the inner tie rod end joint. Use pliers or whatever to unbend the thin metal washer that prevents the tie rod from unthreading from the steering rack. Grab 2 wrenches, put 'em on the flats, and unscrew.

Install is the reverse. It should honestly take you less than 20 minutes for the whole job, then it's alignment time.

Just get the parts to rebuild them like I did, cost me like $60 and I can repair the starter or alternator.

I've found that good practice comes from breaking shit on the trail. You really learn quick how to fix it.
