Man I get my panties in a bunch when I meet a skanked out ole clunker with that horrid shit pouring out of the windows and it blows INTO my truck...........nasty shit! I'd rather breathe a thick black plume of diesel exhaust from a clapped out Cummins any day.

I bought my first new vehicle, 2006 Chevy Colorado, in 2007. I promised my wife I wouldn't smoke it in for a while. A week later I opened the door to my old car and nearly choked from the smell of having smoked in it all that time. Haven't smoked in my own vehicle since for that reason, plus if I take my niece and nephews out I don't want them to smell it.

Disgusting habit, I come from a long linage of smokers, just hope the stresses of life never cause me to pick it up. I am pretty resilient though, lung cancer took my mother at the age of 36, my grandmother at 67, and most of the family still smokes. My Dad smokes 1-2 packs a day, my stepmom smokes heavy too, along with several of my friends. I just hope they all get the sense to quit, trying to talk them out of it is practically useless. And the only time I've allowed smoking in my truck was when Dad and I took a roadtrip last March and I told him he couldn't do it, so he instructed me to go buy him a can of chew, so I rejoiced and let him smoke in the truck, didn't want him getting addicted to chew along with cigs.

People CHOOSE to smoke. Life doesn't make you do anything. I've been in some shitty spots, never once have I thought to make things worse by starting smoking. Smokers who "can't" quit are weak, I know plenty who just quit and that's it.

    Sorry...smoking rant.

I smoke in the truck, but I always put the windows down. Yeah, I know the smoke smell is still going to linger, but I'm not worried about that.
I used to throw the butts out the window, but I stopped doing that. When my sister's car had an open fuel leak, I was scared to flick a butt anywhere around her car just in case it blew up. Even after the leak was fixed, I was thinking- what if someone else had a leak like that, and I was the car in front of them and threw a still-lit butt out the window and they went over it and got blown up? Maybe that sounds strange to some of y'all, but that's why I stopped throwing them out the window.

Entirely not the case if the person is truly addicted, nicotine is a drug, and addictive cases can be just as bad as something like heroin or cocaine. The tobacco companies at large are responsible for several generations of smokers. Way back when, they made it look like smoking was cool and to girls would make them prettier, and to guys more macho and masculine, they also marketed tobacco at youth. They knew the effects of smoking on the body, but decided to shove it under the desk for many years. I don't think the truth about it was discovered until like the 80s, and that is when the Surgeon General warnings came along. Also, tobacco was forbidden to be marketed toward youth anymore. Sure, people choose to smoke, but you can't deny that the tobacco companies' form of advertising didn't influence it some.

    all the cool kids smoke.!

i dont. and smokers, your clothing, your skin, your breath..it stinks up your truck just the same. seriously, just light up in the truck. we still smell it the same. your truck is not fresh smelling.

smoke smell doesn't bother me. the actually smoke burns, but the remnants buried in upholstery, is annoying at the most, but not bothersome to me.

funny to read responses that comment about how they smoke only with windows down, cracked, etc. to keep the smell out. I see lotsa folks around here who smoke with windows open, probably thinking the same thing. News flash tho...it doesn't work! Your truck still has that smell, and makes it a little harder at resale time. Tough to be a smoker these days

I agree. Nobody forced me to smoke. It was my decision alone. I also choose to continue smoking. I don't buy the addiction nonsense. I've went for long periods without and have never experienced any symptoms of physical withdraw. Instead, it's a gratifying habit, prompting an irritation or distraction when that habit is interrupted. In many ways, it's like a favorite drink or meal. It's annoying when not available, encouraging one to seek it out.

The heroin or cocaine comparison is just plain wacky. People don't prostitute themselves on street corners for a smoke. Absolutely everything we consume (eat, drink, or smoke) contains chemicals, but that doesn't make a cola, or a cheeseburger, or a cigarette, at all like heroin or cocaine. Next they'll be saying chocolate lovers, who crave chocolate whenever available, are like cocaine users (actually, some already believe that), with chocolate companies imprisoned for distribution.

As for the tobacco companies, nobody influenced my decision to smoke. I paid no more attention to the tobacco ads than I did the alcohol ads (don't drink), or the femine hygiene ads, or the Honda ads (never owned one). Indeed, the idea that people are so easily influenced (a few ads and people just cannot resist) is insulting. Companies put out the ads to view, but, in the end, it's always the buyer's decision.
