I'm not such a thick headed fanboy that I won't admit that the iPhones are decent smart phones and the hardware itself is good. I like the Android OS better and feel the Samsung GS3 hardware is better.

By the way, Samsung produced some of the components on the previous iPhones such as the screens and processors. Samsung makes phones, Apple assembles phones.

This thread didn't suck...it was actually very helpful. seeing everyone's comments (positive and negative) about the android and apple phones were a great help. I could have just started doing my own research and bought a phone without really knowing...this thread has helped me and anyone else trying to decide between the two or three types of OS phone's out there.

I have decided to go with the iphone 5, just because it suits my need more than the android phones.

I love my Android phones. I couldn't image going to something limited.

False, LG produced the screens for the 4 and 4s. Prior to the 4 and 4s it was Sanyo Epson, Sharp, and TMD manufacturing the displays.

Sharp manufactures the screens for the iPhone 5.

    Samsung manufactures the A4, A5, A5x, and A6 chips.

But EVERY company uses third party parts for their devices. LG, Sharp, Sanyo, Samsung etc. specializes in Displays.

Subaru doesnt make the wheels or brakes for the STi, theyre BBS wheels and Brembo brakes. and yet from the factory its one of the best cars for the price. Just like apple doesnt make the display or the chips, but they design the original idea, and the software that makes it all work together making it some of the best devices on the market.

    No one can deny that.

... ^^^ ... Me too ... this is exactly why I switched to Apple products ... including iPhones. To me Androids can do much more, but are also a lot more complicated to use.

After a day of playing with "Apple Products" ... they are sooo easy to use.

I'm probably upgrading next month and have the same issue. Except I may settle for the 4S pending the pricing. From what I've read they both have some things I like. But my understanding is that the Iphone is more user friendly which is a big plus for me. Yet I love the large screen on the Samsung.

I've heard the Samsung has a tougher anti-scratch screen? :notsure:

But one of the big questions I have is do the android phones have the Direct tv app? I know the Iphone has a great app for Direct. My brother has one and can use the phone as a remote, can see what channel and whats showing and if you have DTV HD DVR you are supposed to be able to watch NFL games on your phone. A lot of these features may be pointless, but I do like to be able to set recordings away from home which I think can be done from any smart phone though.

I plan to read more on this thread later. Too long to read right now.

Samsung provided the screen for the iPad 3. Apple decided not to use LG or Sharp for this one.

An iPad is like a large iTouch, which is an iPhone without the phone.

Maybe Apple will jump on the Phablet bandwagon.

Quoting this for truth, well my truth anyway. I love Samsung products, I hate the OS on Droid phones and the lack of getting upgrades of them. You buy one and a new phone with a new OS goes on sale the next few weeks. All the droid fanboys cry about Apple products but I bet they have an iPod or an iPad laying around in their house :spy:

I actually have 2 iPods, bought them specifically for compatibility with my car stereo. I have stopped using them though:
    1. because iTunes is crap!
    2. because I ran out of space on my old one, and the new one needs a reset every 2 days.
    3. NO FLAC support.

    As far as phones go:
CyanogenMod > iOS (seriously, I've had apple fans admit they are jealous of CyanogenMod)

I've run CM on my droid phones, it's the only way to get rid of the apps that come with the droid phones that no one cares about. Agreed, iTunes is complete shit. FLAC files are far too large and the comparison is marginal to high quality music (328 bits/sec). If I had my library in FLAC format it would easily be over 1TB.
