Truck tent's

Anyone have one of those truck tent's by sportz tent I think that's what it's called and if you do how do you like it?

 

I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with!

 

Clamp a vertical bar, centered on the bed rail right behind cab and another coming up from hitch reciever, link the 2 verticals with a cross bar and drape with a tarp. You'll be open on the ends, but you'll have a roof over your head.

 

nah.... I want to do a truck tent too, but don't want to spend a lot of money on one. We could add it to the check mod tread if you can built one cheaply.

 

I just use my 2 person backpacking tent. With a shortbox, I gotta have my bed extender on (solid homeade job) and fits inside fine (despite wheelwells intruding in front). Can even 'stake' though the front D rings I added.

Any rain is shed off the sides into the bed, but with a bed mat you stay above the water, drains out the back or front drain holes.

If used alot though, would think a true truck tent (despite the price) would be better. Would have much more space inside and shed water off the sides.

 

I have a small tent in the barn that might fit. I may have to try that once it warms up a bit more. It has an extra rain fly that might help shed water over the sides.

 

Yeah, I might just make something for the back to extend over the tailgate. And that's also another reason I wouldn't spend a lot of money on one.

My soft canopy would be good, but it's almost impossible to close or open from the inside. The back window has a bar at the bottom that slides on place, then the tailgate gets closed. I MIGHT be able to reach through the zipper on one side, but that's a bit of a stretch.

Also, being that my wife and I are both almost 6' I'd rather have the tailgate down for the extra 18".

I might be able to sew up some sort of awing/dressing room that would lock into the J channel at the top of the Bestop, zip into the sides, and wrap around the tailgate down to the ground.... hmmmmmm..... That would give us the full length of the bed, AND a place to stand up to change clothes.

 

i bought one off ebay a few months ago for like 50 bucks, i havent used it yet but will be going camping soon....its easy to set up so i'll put it up sometime this week and post some pics...

Looks nice but then u have to take everything out of the bed to do anything. That my friend SUCKS to do. Just get you a tent cot or spend the money and do it right?
