So KPT I got a 09' Double Cab 4x4 LB Sport with Icon Extended Travel Coilovers in front lifted 3", TC UCA's and 1" wheel spacers. What's the biggest tire height and width I can fit with stock 17" TRD rims with very minor trimming. Also I put on some 16" Acloa's with a 285/75-16 Nitto TG's and the rubbed bad and would need a cab mount chop, is that right or typical? Thanks in advance.

What's the backspacing and width of the Acloas? Did you run them in conjunction with the spacers?

BS is 4.5" with a 1" spacer. I think i'm going to run the stock TRD 17's and get some Toyo A/T 285/70-17 so I don't have to hassle with the exact tolerances since I use my truck 40% street and 60% off road I don't want to cab chop to get a full turn or full flex. What do you think?

Oh ya the width of the Alcoas is 8". That was just to see what it would look like and clearance and good thing I did cause I found some issues that I'm not ready to chop...yet.

Take the spacer off, way too little backspacing once you add the spacer on. You'll rub less without it.

Anyone know if I can go with 255/75/17 on stock suspention without rubbing? Or will I have to do a mild lift like .85" or more with 5100's. Been looking but just can't find the answer.

I know the largest is 265/70/17 but the 255/75 is less then a half inch taller and a little less then 3/8" narrower. Any thoughts?

I guess this answers my question...the 255/75/17's are a 32" tire also...which leads me to what wheels will I need?

The ones I was quoting were 285/60/18, which are really like a 31.5".

I just put 275/65/18s (32.1) on and had some rubbing in reverse, with a 1.75" lift. But I'm not positive how much if that was due to width and how much to height.

This thread should help, you can ask some folks who posted in there what their suspension setups are.

Thanks. I do think width has a lot to do with it. I've been all over that thread but I guess I haven't posed this question.

Hey KPT whats the largest tire I can fit with my set up on stock 17" TRD rims? TC UCA's, Icon Extended Travel Coilovers turned up to 3". I also have or can use a 1" front wheel spacer. I was considering Toyo AT 285/70-17 but I was hoping for a little more height but don't want any rubbing. Thanks again!

275/70/17 without the spacer, 285/70/17 with the spacer and trimming.

Hello I an the Indianghost I have a 2008 Tacoma Automatic and was wanting to put larger tires on it> Do I have to have the transmision syncronized to corespond with the larger tires. I did that with a 4X4 GMC and my transmission went out due to that but that was back in 1989.

    2012 DC TRD Off Road
    Hello,

I just purchased my first Tacoma and love it. This site is a wealth of knowledge and I just want to say thanks to everyone who contributes.

I have a 2012 SBDC TRD off road and I'm looking to change my rims. I plan on running the stock tires for now 265/70/16. I looking at getting a set of 16x8 rims and was wondering what backspacing and offset to get. I prefer not to cut anything. Does anyone have any incite? I have read where several people have had bubbling issues with the calipers.

    Thanks for the help.

Some 16s do hit the calipers, regardless of backspacing, so it's best to get a wheel that someone else on here is already running. For 265s, anywhere between 4.5 and 5.5 backspacing is where you want to be.

New to the site and looking for some good Taco advice. Looking to put some big tires on my 06 SR5 DC Long Bed 4x4 16" rims (Not TRD). Will a BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain LT265/75R16/E fit on there, without rub? I've got 245's on there now and they just look small. Thanks all.

I agree, this is the largest tire I had before my two lifts. My first lift(2") I used the same tires and rims. Then I got 285/75/16 and they rubbed on fronts even after removing mud guards. So I took em off and got a 3" lift. I still had to remove the mud guards off the front but it looks awesome!
I pulled two trucks off the beach the next week and the tires never spun a bit.:D

    Awesome forum guys.

    Dumb question:

If I put a bigger tires on my Tacoma won't it throw off my speedometer and odometer?

I have an 08 TRD Sport with 265/65/17 tires. I want to get new one but they are out of stock on that size. They have 265/70/17 which they said it's not a big difference. Also my spare would be a bit smaller, not a big deal but not the best situation either.
