CHEAP DIY Off Road Camera Mount.

The Goal: To make a cheap STURDY off road mount for the LifeProof iPhone Case. Want to have a power source as videos eat the battery like a fat kid with a cake.

If this has been done before oops my bad.

Progress so far, three prototypes, working on finalizing product and write up. Stay Tuned...


^Prototype 1 [FAIL]

PVC holds memory and becomes loose and doesn't make stable Photos.


^Prototype 2 [Rearview Mirror Unusable]

OFF ROAD use only. Works great just pushed the rearview mirror down and not enough space to see out the back window.


^Prototype 3

Attempting to fix the rearview mirror issue so it can be left in the truck all the time. **Also making it wear the USB cable runs through the pipe and completely hidden.

Just a quick update, I've conducted a small scale test on the new mount, just working out some minor flaws and Mis-measurements. Large scale test will be on Oct 27th.

you dont need a fancy ball mount,but you can get creative.

 

Thats pretty kool, I prolly am making it more complex then needed. But the mount they used wouldn't work for the iPhone and also it wouldn't provide a way to charge the camera.

 

You can Fab up a way to make the iPhone fit onto it.And if you want,you could always use a long cable. I have a 10ft cable just because.

For me,I used the dual suction cup thing,simple ball mount and my bloggie touch mounted on the inside under my rear view mirror.

There's another mount that's pretty sturdy and made to mounted both in and outdoor. I can remember where.

I like that Rearview mirror mount. But it doesn't let you keep the case on the phone

Does the pipe get in the way of the shot at all?

 

The mounting bracket is adjustable. So no. Ill add some photos from inside the mount.

In the last picture upper right corner you can see part of the T-fitting that's getting moved on the final design to help relieve stress on the USB cable and help streamline it to the phone instead of backtracking
