They've had lots of QC issues. I'd be hesitant to buy a new one. Hoping my gen1 will go for a long time.

I sold mine, and will probably never buy a Toyota again. But I still hang around to help with questions and such. Toyota is definitely not made to Japanese quality anymore

Alot of the issues are supplier related... what do you do, ride a bike?

Edit: just curious, what are you driving now?

Only jealous of the MPG. I went the opposite way...sold my MKV GTI for the Taco :p

And yeah, I should take my truck in and tell them my auto power window only works on the driver window and it only works when pulling the window down!

The funny thing is, your 2010 Taco had no recalls against it except the stupid gas pedal trim.

Good luck with your Jetta. Hope the rest of the car stays as reliable as the engine.

My first tank was almost 600 miles on the tank of gas. I only keep vehicles about 2 years anyway. Never have a car payment, dress em up and let em go.

So nice of you to leave that. I am not downing the truck, but like most vehicles they are not made with foreign standards anymore. Not even mine, they all get built in America and boom all the problems begin.

I wasn't bitching about my truck at all. Just the quality and craftsmanship. So everyone can stop leaving little recall notices. I got rid of mine because for a compact truck it got the most crappiest gas mileage I have ever seen. Squeaks even after the TSB, steering wheel shake, blower motor squeak, crappy seats and very uncomfortable. And the plastic they use on the inside dirties and stains way to easy. Run forever though

Tacomas are not affected. Those UAW cronies at NUMMI and Mexican cheap labor at TMMBC apparently knew how to apply grease...

I'd rather have a truck with all the above problems that will run forever than a car without those problems that will need a new engine after 140k. Especially with the cost of German parts...

I had to replace the engine head on my MKV and it ended costing over $7700. Thank goodness for insurance, otherwise, I'd still be paying that off.
