Was the suspension TSB performed correctly?

my dealership ordered and installed the wrong ones this past friday....not to mention messing up the alignment also. they are redoing it tomorrow....got the right springs and u-bolts in this time. its stupid that we, the customers, have to show the dealership where and what they messed up on......which was my case. but it was rather funny watching the expressions on their faces when i broke out my copy of the tsb and showed them that they were misinformed!!!

ordering the wrong parts,especially while looking directly at the tsb= bullshit!!!!

 

fortunatly my dealership has proved very competant. no complaints with Toyota of Greenville so far

 

The TSB work was great, but they didn't do an alignment. No biggie as the truck drives straight. I just centered the steering when I got home.

 

My 08 already had it done. So far so good

 

got mine back yesterday.........at least they did it right the second time!

 

Done, quickly, & perfectly. They could have washed the front springs or something before installing, but that's just my OCD.

Two warranty repairs done so far, both done perfectly.


(TSB & transfer case output bearing seal).


I don't know if I'll be buying another Tacoma though when this one's dead.

Shudder, thunk, sag. I shouldn't pay $23k for a bad clutch, thunking driveline and saggy suspension right off the lot.

 

Kieth Pierson Toyota performed the TSB on my truck. Everything seems fine. I like having the stiffer rearend. The good thing is it didn't jar my teeth out going over Railroad tracks.

 

Has now been done correctly on 1st try. Love the difference.

 

how did you center the steering??? i really need to know this!!!

 

You have to look at the tie rod ends on each side. You will see a nut (farther from the wheel) threaded into another nut (closer to the wheel). You loosen the nut farther from the wheel and that gives you the ability to adjust the other one, which pulls the front of the wheel in, or pushes it out depending on which way you turn it. Be sure to adjust each side THE SAME AMOUNT (ie; 1/4 turn on the left and 1/4 turn on the right, etc.) If you are pushing the front of one wheel out, then pull the other one in.

You don't have to get in the truck and center the actual wheel first. Only adjust each side a little bit at a time, and then tighten the bolts back up (bring your wrench with you), and test drive it to see where your steering wheel sits. If it's not where you want it, hop out and adjust it a bit more.

No problem. My truck is in the shop (backed into a steel pole), so I couldn't go look to make sure I had the explanation (in terms of closer or farther from the wheel) of the nuts right, but one is just to lock the other one in place after you make the adjustment.

I've been through Rock Hill a couple of times, and my wife went to Winthrop. I won't be up there in the near future due to work/school/kids etc. but it really is easy to do. When you're making your adjustment, just visualize if you are pulling in the wheel or pushing it out. When you pull it in you are actually pulling the tie rod end in, and vice-versa for pushing it out.

Just curious, the TSB is for the rear leafs right? So what does that have to do with the alignment? Again not being an a$$ just wondering.

 

after they do the suspension . you need to have it aligned so the rear track correctly behind the front wheels . I think

mine was done correctly the first time and I had them change out my tail gate while thet had it . Gave me a loaner for a day while they had it .
