So i'm new to this site and i'm not sure at all what to do with my 09 V-6 tacoma i wanted new headers or new air intake and i'm not sure which one to get first or even if i should get those upgrades. I'm looking for more horses and if possible at all better MPG(but the MPG isn't a big deal) so if one of you kind gentelman could lend me a hand i would be very greatfull, thank you.

    i would suggest intake.
    easy and effective

if you know what you are doing then you know for the best effect, if you do a full intake, you need to do a full exhaust.

and i should have said this in my last post but lets say i buy headers(doug thorley) would it come with a better exhaust or just the headers itself?

headers are headers, you will only get headers..... and think about flow for a moment....

you are about to either increase the amount the engine can intake, or expel...

you allow alot more air in, yet dont make the outflow channels larger, you wont get full potential.

and same visa versa. more exhaust allowed to flow out yet no larger intake, then you wont reach full potential once again.

    think about it.

ahhh you are wise beyond your years, so i should get them both at the same time(in a perfect world), or atleast an exhaust and intake.

FWIW, Many of these "Cold Air Intakes" I have tested have shown NO gain in hp. K&N showed a LOSS. Its much more difficult to get hp out of a modern engine. Headers, intake, exhaust "MAY" give 20 hp. To add, some of these "Performance" mufflers have also shown minimal gains, and in the case of Flowmaster, have lost hp. over the OEM system.

i would say intake first then exhaust.

your exhaust system from the factory isnt at is maximum potential... you have a rather large diameter exhaust tube for a stock system... dont ask why, toyota is just bad ass like that.

and thank you... you are one of the few that doesnt hate me haha. i guess everyone else got bent when i called them all morons hahaha. like i said before.. i must have wasted all those hours in physics, and fabrication and design classes for nothing. hahaha fuck it. good luck. if you have anyo ther questions feel free to pm me or start a thread, if i see it and i can help, i will.

this is also very true. to a cetain extent you can modify new vehicles... but the computer will only let you go so far before it says fuck you and takes a shit on you. you normally have to get a computer re-flashed every upgrade.

Your not the only one here that has taken physics, and other classes. :p

no! get a custom tune if you can... its like what we do with fuel injected race cars we build at the shop i work for... we will do a parts list, install the parts, then tune it to each part one at a time... so far we made a 800 rwhp 2007 mustang gt. if you have the coin and do it right then anything is possible.

and to chris4x4... i never said i was, just most people on this forum talk out of their asses and then have no proof or experience with the "answers" they have given. that is why this place leaves a sour taste in my throat. people here are all talk and no balls.

if you want real hp. trade in the truck and get a sport car otherwise save up for a S/C or a turbo system.

but if you must... CAI, exhaust, headers, maf sensor cal, and a tune.

im sorry.. i just read the word PHYSICS and i literally crapped myself.. physics is a pain in the ass.. but anyways.. i would get the exhaust first, then an intake, then headers. :]
