Try to make a long story short, Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings. Bought some retros from 08PreLB in April of this year and they look sick! Well a month ago or so one of my ballasts was going out, so this morning I finally get around to calling TRS about it, Andrew answered the phone, it was a short conversation and I explained to him what was happening. He sent me an email giving me instructions on how to get another ballast, basically send him a picture of my ballast with the lamp & power cords cut up, which I understand, you wouldn't want someone selling the ballast and getting a free one in return. Back to the story, I sent him a total of 4 pictures, 2 before I cut and 2 after I cut the wires off the ballast.

Now here is where SHTF, after I sent him the pictures of the cut up ballast he replies in an email:

He never asked me on the phone, he assumed I bought them directly from TRS because of the way I worded my sentence when we spoke, "I have a ballast from you that is malfunctioning" which was the truth.

I replied in email with this:
    He replied:
Now it's not 100% either of our fault, I did not read that warranties are non-transferable and I'm sure some of you did not know that either. Just keep in mind when buying ballasts or a set of retros from anyone if one goes out, the original purchaser has to make a warranty claim.

With that being said, he should not have assumed I bought them directly from the (TRS) store, and he should not have had me cut up my ballast before asking me where I bought the ballasts from, now I can't drive at night and have to wait for a new ballast from them. Oh and I still got charged $8 for shipping. End rant.

Miscommunication sucks man, even worse you can't drive at night. The transferable warranty thing I don't know what to say there - but since he told you to cut the ballasts and then after the fact say sorry i can't help you there is kind of a dick move. I hope it all works out for ya.

That sucks. I thought TRS at least did free shipping though! Is free shipping only on complete kits?

Email specifically said free shipping on the one ballast. The $55 is nothing nor is the $8, I'm only pissed because I cut up my (semi working) ballast & can't drive early morning / night time.

    Too many to list now.
You may have been honest but I would have offered up where you got them first, instead of "assuming" he'll ask. Warranties are hardly ever transferrable. It is a bummer about the ballast though, was it OEM?

Cody, I have sent you an email.

Warranties are non-transferable at all but we will ensure you're taken care of here.

OP why wouldn't he assume you got it from him if you're calling him for help on it/asking for a replacement?

Yes thank you, I received it and sent one back.
They didn't do anything, the original owner contacted TRS and nothing has been done, not even my $8 for "free" shipping.
Actually your opinion isn't needed here, neither is any other TRS fanboys. If a company screwed up they should correct it. I clearly stated in the OP we are both at fault, I did not know warranties are transferrable, you could buy a used truck and the warranty usually stays in tact. He told me to cut my semi-working ballast up and they would send me a brand new one at no cost to me, then asked where I got the ballast from in a later email. I can obviously see where he would get confused if he assumed I bought the ballast directly from TRS or a vendor of theirs but I accepted fault also.
What is a review? Someone either praises a company for their outstanding customer satisfaction and products or bashes them.
I didn't ask for a replacement, I called him up and told him the ballast was malfunctioning and he said that's not a problem, I can send you a replacement one at no cost to you.

Tried to install my new ballast I got in the mail, and it's the wrong one, emailed Andrew back. Companies aren't perfect, I already said sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings.

the rant is more of a public announcement that the warranty for trs products is non transferable rather than a rant. Some may not know this fact. Cody said it was his fault for not reading the warranty. no names as of yet have been dragged through the mud. you tards need to calm down and let the man say his piece without the unnecessary negative input. if you already know that the warranties are non transferable then there no reason to put the op down for not realizing it. it seems his only real complaint is that vender telling him to cut up the ballast from the miscommunication between the two and being charged for shipping when they said they wouldn't. which also the op said no biggy. cody has not said that he would not be trs's products or suggested to others to do. this just what i read from it.

I'm not fanboying TRS, I just don't see what they did wrong at all. They said they could replace it with the information you gave them. Then you gave them more info and they let you know what company policy is. To top it off, he emailed you after seeing this in order to try and make it right.

I'm not one for asking about people's personal email but I'd be interested to see what TRS offered you to make it right, sounds like they're still doing business well and did nothing wrong IMHO. Sorry about the confusion for you though, just doesn't seem "share with the interwebs" worthy. I got headlights from autoanything, they cracked in half when I baked them at 265* for 7 min, guess I'm SOL until I buy new ones . . . My fault though

You giving a lack of information = you running the risk of confusion. If someone called my company claiming they have one of my products that went wrong, it sounds to me like they bought it from me. Clarify mang ha oops, oh well. . .

Made me cut my ballast up, went 2 weeks without headlights, (sent me the wrong ballast) didn't give me free shipping like I was promised. Also I didn't receive the ballast I paid for, they sent me a different one and an adapter.

You are right, he did email me but the only reason he posted in here was to make people think he was doing something about it.

Again, it's a review of a company. Including in that review is customer service. Their products are top notch I guess, only ever used 2 ballasts from them and one stopped working correctly after 6 months. He did say he would offer it free of charge and with free shipping but I still forked over $50 and $8 shipping, plus when they sent the wrong ballast I had to pay another shipping fee to send the 2nd ballast back because they messed up and sent me the wrong ballast. I don't see how 1 messed up ballast would cause all of this, although I am sure a part of it is from spite.

    sucks...

i JUST got around to installing my fxr retrofit kit from them (bought new from them last year) but ive been in iraq for all this year, hence NOW getting around to working on my truck... they didnt send me some pigtails in the kit, but i only had a month or two to get help, i never opened the box to inspect when i got them. my fault but they couldve helped... which they did, just ordered a new harness (updated one) and the pigtails, they knocked off 10%. Not a huge discount, but really not their problem in the first place, I shouldve inspected the box, found the missing stuff, and got them asap.

Oh well, they still were in contact with me about this pretty fast, unlike All Pro, who passed me around until they dropped me. Still kinda mad about that. Tried to get into the group buy for the new bumper, but no help. I was gone, yes, but willing to pay at the time! I ALREADY bought skid plates, both bumpers, sliders, etc... pretty loyal customer to be dropped... thinking of going else where for my bumper needs very soon...
