    planing is when you are trimmed out, and just scooting on top of the water...barely any boat under the water. im pretty sure anyway.

    Ah.....Cool. You are correct in your answer. :)
    Trim is the adjusting of the thrust centerline of the prop. Trim up gives a better top end, trim down gets you on Plane faster, and can smooth out a ride when the water is choppy. :)

    Trimming down also allows you to see what you just ran over because your bow was 8 feet in the air:D
