on a serious note, does anyone know anything about generator. gena and i think we will be prepared this year, since everything runs on electric here, (water for pump, water heater, fridge and tv and satellite)you know, the essentials, well is 220, water heater prob not 220. what do you think i would need wattage would i need. i no like to mess with electric. can a portable do the job for the house, or does it need to be a fixed unit.

I briefly looked into it before (my house is the same, all electric) and came to the conclusion that you need a fixed unit to run more than one or two things. So if you went portable you would be running around turning the fridge on for a bit, then turn that off, turn on the water heater, turn that off, turn on the water pump, etc.
