Is my suspension sagging pathetic or what?!

I'm dreaming of: Bistein 5100's all around
    OME 881 coils
    New leaf pack

    All original and 246,000...

I've been searching Wheelers and Down South Motorsports... hoping to slowly piece together a solid "3 lift.

damn it austin, you beat me to the punch :)

yeah i have the OME/Bistein combo and it is STIFF. which isnt bad cornering, keeps the truck upright, but man when i hit any hole or crack in the road faster than 50, it feels like i'm riding on a solid axle. keep the brands together, they were designed to work together and they ride the best when they are paired

i wasnt sure how to fix my leaf springs on my 99, i was gonna get an aal, then decided to go with the skyjacker 3" lift, struts up front, aal and shocks in the back. i also knew that my frame was getting weak bc mine has a rebuilt title so the frame was never fixed under the recall, so i took the box off so i could patch the frame, only to find out that it was way worse than i thought, so i slapped some steel on it, threw the lift in it (also busting brake lines as i went) and before i had it back together i got mad and bought a (please forgive me) 2008 ford f-150 fx4 package. i kept both trucks for awhile, but after a couple months got an offer on the taco i couldn't refuse so i had to sell it

That's the set up I have which gave me about 2" over stock height. Its a little stiff for my tastes....driving over a crack in the pavement feels like you're driving over a railroad tie at times. If I had to do it over again I'd probably go with an OME lift all around.

Yep, I can also attest to the stiff OME/Billy combo. Hasnt bothered me enough to switch to Nitros though, but someday

^^^This. I swapped out the 5100s for OME nitrochargers, and the ride is better. Removing the swaybar makes it better still. Their is really no reason to get 5100s unless you want their lifting ability, which you should only use with stock coils anyway.
    Dooo eeeeet!
I wouldn't say "smooth." It is still a firmer ride on pavement, but more like a performance firm, not "oh shit, another expansion joint" firm. Offroad, nice. Soaks up the bumps.

hmmm... very interesting. i love this forum. It is so helpful to talk to people who have experienced the stuff before i dump a bunch of money into the truck.

Are Bilstein 5100 + eibach coils not all they're cracked up to be?

I would like to fit 32x11.50 with a 2.5-3" lift... I need new shocks and springs on all around.

    It sounds like:
    1st) OME 881's + OME nitrocharger
    -or-
    2nd) eibach coils + Bilstein 5100

    1. The Race Dynamics leveling 5100s are different from the OEM Bilstein HD shocks. You wouldn't really be staying true to the TRD package, which, frankly, is weak anyway. Mainly, it's about the diff lock.
    2. With aftermarket stronger coils (OME and Eibach), you don't want to use the 5100 leveling feature, which was designed for the weaker OEM coils. In other words, you need to leave them set on zero. Some people do otherwise, but it is not advised. Get coils that provide the lift you want and leave it at that.
    3. People use, and are happy with, the Eibach + 5100 setup (again, 5100s set at zero), but I have no firsthand experience to compare the two ride qualities, and I'm not sure who else does. Maybe someone will chime in.

No experience with the Nitrochargers but I can offer an insight going from 881/5100 to Eibach/5100. Originally I bought 881s and 5100s which felt slightly firmer than the stock suspension and yielded about 2" of lift but then I decided to get an Elite Off-Road bumper so I swapped over to eibachs which gave about another 1" of lift and are also a bit stiffer but its not bone jarring, more of a nice solid feeling. Overall, I'm happy with the switch and I don't mind the firmness of the ride in exchange for the extra lift.

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.

Hell i LOVE my Eibachs and 5100s. They aren't King or Fox coil over..but i do like them. Have served me well with lots of wheeling and bashing on them with my Plate bumper. Still holds a goo 3+" lift no problem.

However if your just going for 32s, id just get the Wheelers OME kit. Comes with EVERYTHING you need to properly lift your truck. Just ask them for some 883 or 882 coils instead.

Pick your coils wisely, do you plan on a plate or tube bumper? Winch? Skids??
