    oh yea...i believe it's an open carry law out there too


    but as far as shooting on site at BFE, Olaf and management do not encourage it as it'll open the door to DBs who bring out tons of junk to shoot and leave it around...

    but there's a lot of open space if you want to research an area, then there's an opportunity to explore that type of event

    While there are parts of the area that are open carry, BFE discourges shooting on their property and so much of the land is BLM or State/Federal that it gets VERY tricky as to where you can use firearms. The DNR and Forest Service officials keep a pretty tight watch on that kind of thing. And on a side note, Moab is an area that attracts a lot of environmentalists that are strongly opposed to guns and they know how closely the area is watched. They won't hesitate to notify authorities if they are hearing firearms being discharged. Won't matter if it's in a legal area or not, they'll make the call in hopes to get someone out there to check it out.

    Just FYI. I have nothing against guns but if you want to do that, you'll need to jump through some hoops I'm afraid.

    I'm definitely up in the air. Anniversary on the 18th and I'm not sure my wife will want to do Moab for two anniversarys in a row. ;) Also, I turn 40 on the first of June and my wife has been making big plans for something. I might be able to request Moab (since it is my b-day after all) but i don't know if she has locked plans down already.

    I'll keep you posted.

    We shot when we went out last time. Of course targets were biodegradable and the mess was cleaned up but it was No where near bfe. It was a good time though. Definitely worth doing some research on if you want to get together and shoot a bit in between trails.
