Truck Camping Photo Thread

It works great & is super sturdy - I got it from Softopper. It is a little higher than i would like - unnecessarily higher that the softopper in my opinion though. i'll see if a Baja Rack helps air flow.

 

Ya, I had a softopper and loved it and I just felt that rack was to high also. Thats why I went the AP bed rack route - keep it low, fit in the garage, etc.

I am trying to work with a marine canvas shop for a custom cover over the AP rack to give it the softopper functionality also.

That sounds like a sweet set up. I'll have to look into the AP rig. I've found that I don't fold the St down as often as I'd expected, so going with a cage could work. I'd definitely be into that set up with a cover. I'll keep checking in on that.

 

aha, i have wondered about those Thule racks. how do you like it for the RTT?

 

It works great. No problems whatsoever.

Edit-ARB tent was sold today-Maggiolina here we come.

 

Yee-Ha! Word of advice: if you go with one of the crank-open tents, I highly recommend picking up an extra crank handle. Losing that thing sucks root. Ask me how I know.

Also, if Mike (their sales guy) is the one that takes your order, follow up with him until you receive the tent. He has a habit of forgetting to let the warehouse know to ship stuff after he has your money.

Their current warehouse is in Sonoma, CA, but I know they also used to have one on the east coast somewhere. Might ask into that as picking it up in person may be cheaper than shipping.

 

Thanks for the advice. I've been dealing with Andrew and he said they no longer have the warehouse in NJ. Shipping is outrageous but it'll be worth it.

HAHAHAHAHA You should have joined us! we camped out at two of hearts cabin on EP 15. Was a great weekend!

 

THAT'S why I never found you! I didn't see you in Ricardo Campground and I checked some of the more popular areas to camp outside of the state park while on patrol, but never made it up to the cabins.

Headed to the cabin!

 

Camping at Big Arm state park on Flathead Lake in Montana. I was the only person in the campsite and it got down to +1 celcius at night. I ended up being too hot in my -12 bag.

 

What a gorgeous, and secluded, place!! That looks like an ideal campsite - just the kind of place that beckons for a tent and warm campfire!! Great pic - thanks for sharing!!
