    Hey y'all,

Maybe I didn't search well enough, but I couldn't find any threads that ask this question in the 1st gen forum. Has anybody come up with some really clever semi-permanent cell phone mounts that don't involve a suction cup on the windshield? I saw what zero4 did for his UltraGauge and was inspired to do something similar for a cell phone mount. But I think his was made from a mount for a Garmin.

Mine mounts to the vent above the the climate controls. Not permanent but stays put nicely.

i bought an x shaped mount that has a sticky pad on the back, then a magnet on the front that goes to a disc that sticks to the back of my ultra gauge. can't remember name of it off the top of my head but i love it. the pieces that sticks is firm even on hot days and the magnet mount is great to remove it when i'm parked. works fine for garmins and cell phones too. don't have the name of it available at hand, but i can get it.

I used to use this one. Picked it up at Wally World but decided I didn't want to permanently use one of the cupholders.

Now I have one that uses one of the aux power outlets in front of the shifter. Again, picked it up at Wally World. It is designed to recharge the phone and use an FM modulator, but I removed that portion and use the aux plug from my stereo for power/tunes. Not totally easiest view of it but you can see it on the left in front of the t-case shifter.

I'd love to see some pics of setups. I have a Droid Bionic and I'd like to mount it up higher for navigation. I've seen lots of random holders out there, but many don't look too stout.

Pics, brandnames, and links, people! :D

    Yes, please!!!

That's what I've been doing, but I'm mainly thinking about being able to see the screen for the navigation without having to turn my head down so much that the road is no longer in my peripheral.

 I have seen these and wanted one, but I could never find one for my model. But that's it! It's just the "95-97", but same dash fit. Maybe this is why I never got hits when I searched for 01! Dammit!

    +1 to you sir.

edit: only now I want something closer to my line of sight while driving...

This was another thing I tried, (from Lifehacker.com) but the only real place it worked wasn't really any better than just putting it in my cup holder. Plus this would only work for pre '01 trucks because that cubby was changed to a spot for buttons and the security alarm LED.

The foam stabilized it a lot better.

LMAO, seems like a great idea until the airbag deploys in a minor fender bender and your killed by massive head trauma from that brick to the face. :D

You didn't mention what brand. May I assume Office Max?
