I saved for a year working part time. Looked everyday on Craigslist for a Tacoma. Finally after a year I had about 7500 stashed away.
Found my Tacoma shortly after that listed at 6995.

Just keep saving. I'm 19 btw.

Yea I feel you. I was in the same dilemma. You just have to wait it out, I had a civic before so I definitely wasn't going anywhere in the snow.

Put a bunch of weight in the back of your truck or get chains or something lol

lol well that blows. i guess waiting it out is a good option too. i feel left out though, my brother (23) and his roommate (20), who has also been a long time friend of both of us, both have 90s cherokees and nissan 240sx's. so thats what gave me this idea. like i could just join in with them you know?

and not for nothing but craigslist is full of scams, making it difficult to actually search for something. for ex: http://cnj.craigslist.org/ctd/3334474840.html

lol yea craigslist sucks sometimes. You have to be careful of scammers.

Hell if having 4 wheel drive is that big a deal to you, sell your ford for you said 3500? Buy some beater 4x4 for like 1500 and put the rest in your savings and there you go.

Couldnt have said it better. Vehicles, as much as enthusiasts get excited about them, are consumables. Dont waste your parents hard earned cash by selling off a paid-for-vehicle that gets from point a to point b just cause you cant fit your friends or because you have a feeling about winter. You will come to understand why your justification for a payment sounds ridiculous about 5-10 years from now.

Are you willing to come south to Texas? There is a website I will submit and look in the Used Autos for sale like 2000/2001 year models and there are a few Taco's for sale. Website is WWW.Southeasttexas.com

Then wait and figure it out. If you jump the gun you might regret it, and that's an expensive mistake.

Well let me rephrase. I want both a Tacoma and a sports car(or bike). Obviously that's outta the budget.
