Not to rain on anyone's parade, but dissasembling the whole dash is not necessary to remove these rings.

You can get behind them and work them out. Yes you have a greater risk of busting a tab, but its a lot easier than removing the dash.

This is how Colin did his, and how i ended p doing mine. Just use a small flat head screw driver and slowly pry around the rings and they will come out. I ended up breaking 1 tab on the center ring, but it didnt affect it resecuring when i put them back in.

Taking the dash apart only takes 15 minutes? It's not complicated at all, the hardest part was slipping the dash out and that was only because you have to do it at a certain angle. I rather take 15 minutes and not break any tabs in the process.

I have had my dash in and out countless times, when you do this crap for a living, the faster the better, takes less than 1 minute to pop them out, maybe 2 if you are seriously cautious about the tabs. It's very easy as you are taking them out to figure out where the tabs are and use caution accordingly. But in the end it's up to the person doing it.

I felt more comfortable taking the dash apart. Took me ten minutes (new record!), but i could see someone with more time logged with a dash apart could do this Colin/ToyTech way.

In the end we will all end up with a mod....for cheap...and BETTER for SIMPLE!!

In my opinion this is how it should have come from the factory. I really like the flat black as it matches pretty closely to the rest. I will be doing this shortly, also want to flat black the steering wheel emblem.

Do we have a write up on how to take it off yet, or just slightly pull one side and find pins to remove?? Seems you could easily damage it that way, I know they like to bend.

You have to get behind it, and cut the tabs, I can't recall how many, but there are quite a few.

Now this is something that you have to glue back together if you do that. Don't fuck it up.

First time I took off my dash it took me 15 minutes, I am not going for a record so I was taking my time and being extra careful.

Did mine about 2 months ago and still love it. Did the tweeter rings too. Just have the steering wheel emblem left, just waiting to get the patience to remove it since it's so tedious, unless you know of an easy way to remove it :D
