    FWIW, I've found the amount of weight you have in the bed will impact these number. Full tank of gas will also change the front numbers, both sides. Mine are with empty bed with full tank.

    You just corrected yourself. Your stock coils were sagging a lot. You never had a full 2.5" lift.

    From what I have read 883s give 3" or so on a stock truck

    Yep. Do the boot slide mod. I have a torn boot on each side. I don't give a shit as I'm going long travel

    Hey you aren't so short anymore. haha You're measurements are just a little less than mine. and yeah do the cv boot mod and your boots should be fine.

    IMO (pending pics) you will benefit from a diff drop kit. And before Monte gets in here to say they are not worth it. It is exactly these circumstances where they are most beneficial. A diff drop has the potential to save your boots.

    If they work like they do on the 2nd gens, you pull a couple bolts out which lowers the diff some, put the spacers in and put the bolts back in and tighten.

    From what I have read..they actually give the same amount of lift on an stock taco..

    They don't Mike. I have photos to prove it(give me a sec) they don't help wth the fins at all.

    All they do is rotate the front diff which does help realign the drive line from the transfer case to get rid of vibes. But it does not lower the diff in any way to help with the fins.

    But I do think it is a good thing to get to help save your front drive shelf U joint. But does NOT help CV angles.


    I like the flexing :cool: why is the rack off??

    You replace you inside cv boot clamps with hose clamps and spread the boots apart just enough to make the fins not.touch. if you go too far the boots will fold in on themselves though, so make sure its just enough that they aren't touching on level ground. There is a write up around here somewhere.

    Take off the stock clamps that hold the boot on then slide the boot up farth the axle to make the gap wider between the fins to stop then from rubbing themselves apart

    The original "boot slide" was more that just sliding to boot. It involved actually putting a stop on the inside of the boot too so it was impossible for it to slide back.

    Monte, I thought you did the boot slide mode on your truck?

    My experience was different from this. Adding a diff drop was enough to keep fins I had contacting each other, to stop contacting each other.

    Its an inexpensive solution until either settling occurs or weight is added to the front so the springs compress enough to reduce axle angles and eliminate fin contact.

    Yes I did do the slide mod. But one tore in the roll over..not see why the other did it was just last month.

    I don't think it'll add vibes.

    Adding vibes from a diff drop is a 2nd gen issue. Does not happen on 1st gens. :cool:
