It was apparently stopped down the street from my school. The whole class took a small "field trip." I watched them take out the motorized dolleys and replace them with the non motorized ones. I also snapped a few pics. I took a great one ontop of the Eyewitness News Van.

4lo will tow that shuttle easy, using the tundra.

Why dies everyone think its so impossible? An old VW beetle can pull a 747.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Exactly, they used to use Jeeps to tow bombers and all kinds of other planes around on military bases. Most army Jeeps were just little 4 bangers, aren't Beetles 2 cylinder engines?

    Beetle's were boxer (pancake) fours.
Gas engines ranged from 1.1 to 1.6 litre, but there were also Diesel versions.
The military versions were likely Diesel.

The issue with towing is not so much "will it move it"... it's handling and stopping.
Getting something moving is simply a matter of reduction in rolling resistance. You can tow a mountain if it's riding on a cushion of air.

Once it's moving though, it's going to take a lot to stop it. That same reduction in friction that helps to get it moving also wants to keep it moving.

The shuttle's dolly was of course equipped with it's own brakes, and there were three "drivers" in the cab of the truck for this 400 yard tow. The job of one of those guys was to manage the brakes on the dolly. The Tundra moved the shuttle, but it did not stop it.

My buddy used to tow his Boston Whaler... a Revenge 22... with his '85 Toyota 4x4. He didn't like doing it, it was a scary ride. Today, he would not attempt to tow it with anything smaller than his Silverado.

And as Lisa mentioned.... you guys are completely missing the point of the thread.
Notice in her OP where she said that photoshops are welcome?

This is a joke thread... we want to see what kind of crazy "loads" people can imagine behind their Tacoma... like 150,000 pounds of BACON!

I tried to carry a large rock in my truck once. As I was lowering it in with the fork truck, the front tires came off the ground. I didn't haul that rock.
